I have a Dropbox Basic plan on my Mac. Most of the files on my Mac are synced with Dropbox. If I delete my Dropbox account, I understand that I will lose my files on Dropbox. Will Dropbox also delete the same synced files on my Mac?

To cut to the chase, as long as your computer is linked to your Dropbox account, the synced files in your Dropbox folder will also get deleted, if you delete your account.
If you want to keep the local files in the Dropbox folder, you'll need to unlink the computer, before deleting the account.
To unlink it, you can either sign out of the app itself, or delete the computer from your connected devices.
