Hello,
I have at least 4 people that have accepted and downloaded DB from my invitations. AFTER they did, DB suddenly marked them as ineligible. I want my space. Please help.
Hi @Queen22, let's see what I can do to help!
I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this. Respond back to me, and we'll take it from there.
Cheers!

The laptop has previously had dropbox as it's a shared device.
That would make it ineligible as each referral must install Dropbox on a unique computer (one never having Dropbox before).

Its inelegibe because of the fact you havent met the requirements of the promotion - which is that it is installed on to a unique computer. As you have uninstalled your own Dropbox and installed theres and then uninstalled again it doesnt meet that requirement. This has been in for a long long time to prevent abuse.
Hey @renatomichel, I just sent you an email.
I'll be happy to look into this with you. Reply back, and we'll take it from there.
Thanks!
Hey @K0n63n - thanks for using Dropbox and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Hi there, @Richard36, let's jump right into this!

Hello, Dropbox Team:
I recently recommended a colleague to sign up for Dropbox. She's a new user and accepted my referral, downloading the app on her computer. However, my referral status marked as ineligible. Also, her account only has 2GB of storage space without additional bonus 500MB.
Could you please help resolve this problem and restore our bonus space?
Thank you very much for your time and help. We look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Li
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @lchen2988.
Is it possible that you used the same network to do this?
Also, has your colleague verified her Dropbox email?
You can take a look at this page for additional info and fixes for this issue.
Let me know how it goes.
Hi Hannah,
thank you so much for your fast response.
She did it last month 25.01. at home to download the application in the computer. She just told me today, we can share the data via Dropbox. Today we already shared the data, this does not mean she already verify the Dropbox email?
Does she need to down load the app again with university network?
Best wihes,
Thanks for the update, Li!
Did she use the same network as you to install the Dropbox desktop app?
No, she did it at home, not at the Uni.
Bests,
Lizhen
Hi @lchen2988, do you know if they were signed into the university network at the time they activated the referral from their home?
Were you able to resolve the issue you were having with your Dropbox referrals, @AleGio?
If not, we can further assist.
Hi Nancy,
Thank you for your reply.
No, I did not resolve the issue. I have two referrals shows as inelegible, and it is impossibile to have an help from the assistance.
If you coul help me, I would be grateful
Today, I tried to register a colleague on the Dropbox Basic free account and the email address now shows ineligible.
How can we recover from this situation? Would uninstalling and reinstalling the Desktop App from her home location resolve the issue?
Advice appreciated. Sue
Hi @CGC_SSS, thanks for contacting us.
As you've noticed, when activating the referral from the same location and installing the Dropbox desktop application there, the referral would be seen as ineligible.
Uninstalling the desktop app and reinstalling it from the home location wouldn't change the current referral status.
For future referrals, we'd recommend ensuring that the user activates and installed the Dropbox desktop application from a completely different network to prevent this from occurring again.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
Very unsatisfactory! The website doesn't make it clear, and now she's 'stuffed' just because I was being helpful! I don't care about my 500Mb - I have a paid subscription that I can use - but this is a team of helpers for a small charity-type organisation.Surely there should be some way to wipe the slate clean and start again! (Changing email address isn't an option!!)
Thanks for the reply, I've sent you an email, please could you reply to it when you get a chance?
Sorry, your email didn’t arrive?
Have a look at http://www.dropbox.com/support and see if it shows there.
Thanks - it was there!(And I had already replied to Jay - now I know what was meant by 'emailed you'!!)
I signed up using my friend's referral link but we both did not get the bonus storage. The referral page shows "ineligible". And we are using different computers and network. Really appreciate it if someone can help with the issue!
Thanks for posting this on our Community, @cyshen!
To clarify, this is the first time you’re signing up and installing Dropbox on your computer. Correct?
Let me know, and we’ll take it from there.
Yes this is my first time signing up and installing Dropbox.
Alright, thanks for clarifying that.
I’ve gone ahead and logged a ticket for you, since we’ll need some account visibility to look into this further. Please reply to it, and I’ll assist you via email.
Trying to get some extra space using referrals. Sent them to my family members, but all of them appear as Ineligible. I know that for one of them there was a fresh install (never had Dropbox on that PC), but still appears as Ineligible.
Any ways to solve this?

This can happen if you're all trying to claim referrals from within the same network. One of the Dropboxers may be able to open a ticket for you when they see this thread.
Hi there, @pdrac, welcome to our Community!
One of the reasons a referral might appear as ineligible on the Dropbox site is because the user attempted to activate the referral from the same network as yours. Could this be the case?
You can also check this section of Help Center for more info and this FAQ right here. Can you also confirm that they've tried these steps?
This will help me to assist further!
Hello!
Thank you. Yes I have tried all the steps on the FAQ. It is most likely because we are on the same network.
Is there a way to solve this?
Hey @pdrac!
I can send you an email, in order for us to investigate further. Please reply back to me, and we'll see if there's anything that we can do about this.
See you there, thanks!
Hi!
Feel free to email me. Thank you!
I referred so many of my friends to Dropbox using the referral link.
They created account for the 1st time using the link.
Their email showed up in the referral list.
For some it says, waiting for install, for others it says ineligible. Lost approx. 5GB of space because of this, showing same for 10 different friends.
It has happened with multiple invites. All are separate friends and have not much in common. All have installed it on their own laptop.
What can be the issue. Thanks.
Are they on the same network? Or, using a device that has already had Dropbox installed?
Hi @sowmyagupta283, thanks for messaging the Community.
As @Mark suggested, were the other users also on the same network as you, even if it's a work or school network connection, or VPN?
Second option of already installed Dropbox is not true, since none of them have even heard of Dropbox. This has happened with 7 of my referrals. A few of them may be on same network, but definitely not all. There is a central broadband company that provides internet in this region. Most of the users would be using their internet. Isnt is ok to use identical internet provided by a big company in this region. Kindly check. Thank you.
