Displaying HTML links as raw code. Is there a workaround?

It seems that when you sent a link to an HTML file, whereas I can view it just fine, nobody else can, they get raw code. I understand that this was a deliberate policy. So, is there a workaround? Is there a link to a download possible? If I myself want to download it's fine, but what about others?

My guess (and again apologies as it is only that) here is that you are seeing it 'cause you are logged in. If you did an incognito window, you probably wouldn't - although incidentally, I do sometimes find there is a difference between computers/mobile apps when viewing stuff.

Dropbox does do stuff differently if you are logged in (e.g. it may open the file in your application instead of the web as a preview), but, I totally agree, it isnt helpful - especially whe its hidden.

I dont believe there is, Dropbox stopped displaying HTML as people were using the hosting system for web pages which, due to frequent changes around how links worked, broke them on more than one occasion.

If the page is static etc. could they do a force download and open it on their local device?

Hi Mark. Interesting, what did work was appending " ?raw=1 " to the link. Try this:

... nuts, it won't let me put a link in here.

It was annoying tho is that I could view the HTML myself, so I presumed that if I sent them a link, anyone else could view it too. Rude of Dropbox to be inconsistent.

Thanks Mark. Yest they surely should let you know that when you send people a link to some HTML they aren't really going to be able to view the document. Or perhaps they should be able to view it? Again, I appended '?raw=1' to the 'Share' URL and it worked for some people, but not for others. Bothersome.
