Using Dropbox as a method to deliver photos to clients

Question or Issue
I have a photography company. Over the years the method of delivering photos to clients has evolved from CD to USB drives and now to Dropbox folders. The problem I (actually my clients) have is some of my clients have complained that they had to purchase a Dropbox account in order to access the shared folder I created for them.

Am I doing something wrong, or are they?

Shared folders take up space on all Dropbox accounts that are members of the share so what you described is normal if you're sharing more than 2 GB since that's the quota that comes with a Dropbox Basic account.

What you should be using instead of shared folders is shared links since they don't require a Dropbox account and everyone you share them with will be able to view and/or download the files you linked to. If you need them to upload back to your account without impacting their own storage space, you can open a file request.
