How can I upload files to a paid account without upgrading myself?

My family member and I are trying to share a Dropbox folder for caregiving. The family member has a paid account, and I have a free account. Is there no way for me to upload files to our shared folders without upgrading my account to paid? Anytime I try to upload a file, I get an error message telling me that have surpassed my 2 GB storage limit with my free account.

Even though the folder belongs to a paid account, any files you add to a shared folder still count toward your own Dropbox storage. Since your free account is over the 2 GB limit, uploads are blocked.

A good workaround is to ask the paid account holder to send you a file request. File requests let you upload files directly to their Dropbox without using your storage.
