Hello,
I have at least 4 people that have accepted and downloaded DB from my invitations. AFTER they did, DB suddenly marked them as ineligible. I want my space. Please help.
Hi @Queen22, let's see what I can do to help!
I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this. Respond back to me, and we'll take it from there.
Cheers!

The laptop has previously had dropbox as it's a shared device.
That would make it ineligible as each referral must install Dropbox on a unique computer (one never having Dropbox before).

Its inelegibe because of the fact you havent met the requirements of the promotion - which is that it is installed on to a unique computer. As you have uninstalled your own Dropbox and installed theres and then uninstalled again it doesnt meet that requirement. This has been in for a long long time to prevent abuse.
Hey @renatomichel, I just sent you an email.
I'll be happy to look into this with you. Reply back, and we'll take it from there.
Thanks!

Hi there, @Richard36, let's jump right into this!
I'm happy to investigate further. I went ahead and opened a ticket on my end for you.

For future readers in this thread, a couple of reasons referrals may be marked as 'ineligible' by the system include:
If you find yourself in this situation please email support so they can look into it!
Hey there, @rostyslavudovenko!
Hope things are going smoothly! Just wanted to check if you still need a hand. If all's well, feel free to share what did the trick.
Hi,
I just set up my Dad's brand new computer we bought from Lenovo and I referred him to Dropbox. Followed all the steps and it says he is ineligible.
This is a new computer (not refurbished etc) that has not have dropbox installed before and he has never had a dropbox account before.
What went wrong?
Hi there @KainNero - thanks for using Dropbox and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
As a first step, have you ensured that your Dad has verified his email address with us?
Let me know when you get the chance, and we'll take it from there.
Thank you for the quick reply!
When we try the verify email it says, with a dart missing bullseye graphic, that something has gone wrong and the team has been notified.
We have got email from dropbox asking if we logged in and have clicked on those to confirm as well previously.

Can you try clearing cache and cookies? That often fixes this
I tried that but still the same error came up.
Hi from me too, @KainNero!
I’ve gone ahead and logged a ticket for you, so that we can look into this internally. Please reply to me, when you get the chance.
Thank you very much for logging a ticket. I hope that this gets fixed soon! @Nancy
I would like to know what went wrong this time as I referred a classmate previously with no problem.
Dear DB team, I referred a friend/colleague, and did not receive a bonus, I will be grateful if you could look into it?I have also raised this as an 'issue' I hope this is ok.
Thank you
Hi @Sameera007, let's investigate further!
If a referral is showing as ineligible on the Dropbox site, then it should mean that the referral user attempted to activate the referral from the same network as yours. Could this be the case?
You can also check this section of Help Center for more info and this FAQ right here. Can you also confirm that they've tried these steps?
This will help me to assist further!
thank you, what is a 'same network'?
Hey @Sameera007!
A computer network is any system that connects two or more computers or devices to share data, resources, and services.
For instance, if you and your colleague all connect to the same network, using the same IP address, it'd essentially mark the referral as such.
yes, probably, because I showed him, how to sign up on his computer, he may be using my WIFI, but I thought he had his own data. So not sure.
I will be grateful if you can look into it, and help me sort this out. Thank you
Sure thing @Sameera007!
I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this. Thanks!
I have responded to your email. Thank you
Hi Walter,
Recently I invited a new Dropbox user, and she activated Dropbox, but my referral space didn’t show up.
Can you please help me?

Hi @Langnn, does the referral you sent to the user appear on your Dropbox account on this page?
What is the current status of the referral?
A screenshot showing this with the date of the referral, without the email address, would be helpful.
I have the same issue. I referred to my sister to dropbox. She got a new laptop and I was helping her set up her laptop. The email was verified. And we downloaded the desktop to her new laptop (brand new out of box). And it was deem ineligible. We do stay in the same household and hence share a wifi.
Also disappointedly when I emailed dropbox support and was told I was being abusive and if I do such abusive acts my account which I had for a long time will be ban.
Can you help me?
Hi @Sharonteosl, thanks for your message.
I checked the support ticket you mentioned, and my colleague mentioned that the referral itself was detected as an abuse of the referral system, and not about you personally.
In general, for the future, it would be best for new users to accept your referrals when not located on the same network as your own, in order to prevent the referral from being seen as ineligible.
Dear Jay,
Thank you kindly for your reply. Is there anything that can be done about it now or is it too late? Can she re-download at a different location?
Were you able to redeem your referral space in the end, @Langnn?
Let us know, if there’s something more we can help you with.
At this point, your best bet would be replying to your existing ticket for more information @Sharonteosl.
Let us know if you have any other questions in the meantime.

Question or IssueA friend I referred to created a new Dropbox account and installed the Desktop app on a newly purchased laptop. But my referral was deemed ineligible. I suspect it is due to sharing the same WiFi network. We are both students using the department's WiFi. There were many similar cases before, and I brushed them off because I was too lazy to come here for support. But after so many ineligible friend referrals, I need to seek support here.
Hi there, @tminnx, welcome to our Community!
We're going to have to look into account-specific info here. For that, I just sent you an email in order for us to investigate further.

Question or IssueI sent referral invitations to friends and colleagues, three of them registered and installed the app. I'm sure that at least two of them did it on computers where Dropbox had never been installed(the other is not sure) and with new email addresses, but I did not receive the 500 MB for any of the three, and the status of all of them is "ineligible". I read all the conditions for receiving the bonus and they have all been met, so I don't see why I wasn't given it.

Were you on the same network (same external IP address) as your colleague's? If so, that's likely the cause as Dropbox expects to see the referrals sign up from a different network from your own. If that's the case, you can try contacting Support and they may be able to look into it for you.
Otherwise, make sure they've installed Dropbox on a computer that has never had Dropbox installed previously (mobile devices don't count), and that they've verified their email address.
Thank you for the suggestions but:- we were not on the same network.- for sure 2 of them installed on a computer that has never had Dropbox installed previously(one has doubt about it, maybe already installed by another user on the same computer).- the email has been verified, and in any case, if that were the problem, the status would be "Waiting for email verification" as indicated in the link you sent, but instead it says "Ineligible"

That would be reason for a referral to be ineligible. Dropbox can't have been installed on the computer at all, even for a previous user.
Your only option is to try contacting Support, or perhaps a Dropboxer will see this thread when they return on Monday and open a ticket for you.
