I am unable to share files due to suspension for violations which have not being communicated to me. Please help to restore my sharing ability
Not a problem, @pmazz!
I just sent you an email, so we'll continue there.
Dropbox support resolved my problem in a timely manner. I was indeed banned from creating sharing links, probably due to a virus detected in the past within my files.
Great support experience, thank you

That isnt enough to remove the block I'm afraid. You need to contact Dropbox support after you have done this via http://www.dropbox.com/support to get unblocked.
Hey @dodzison, thanks for reaching out to our Community.
Can we actually send you an email, so that we can take a closer look into this issue for you?
Let me know!
Sure @Megan. I'll be very happy to have the issue resolved for me asap. Thanks
Hey @dodzison! Can you please reply to my email? I’ll be able to further assist after that. Thanks!
Dear Dropbox Support Team,
It's been a while since I actively used dropbox, apart via a service to back it up and sync it. Today, I logged in via web to share some pictures, and I got this message:
Can’t share file
Error in call to API function /2/sharing/create_shared_link_with_settings: We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement.
About a year ago (maybe more) I did indeed detect a virus in a file hosted in my dropbox, and I deleted it at the time.
I guess the same virus was detected by dropbox systems and there's a ban in my account since then. I’d appreciate it if you could review my account and lift the sharing ban.
Best Regards,

Hello,
I have received this message when trying to share a folder.
We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement
I can't see where I am violating any terms, I am just using it to share PDFs and Excel files, and have been doing it for 15 years without issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Pmaz
You need to contact Dropbox support to ask for help: www.dropbox.com/support.
Thank you. I only have the chatbot and this forum enabled as options. The chatbot is of course useless.
Hopefully a Dropboxer will notice this shortly
Hey @pmazz, can we send you an email, so we can take a look at your issue?
Of course, thank you for your help.

Hi @YesNoUs, let's see what we can find together on this!
Based on the error you received, it sounds like your sharing ability might have been temporarily suspended. You can find out more info at this Help Center article.
Have you recently shared a link which could have been downloaded many times, or to a large file? Also, how long have you been getting this error?
This will help me to assist further!
I've been getting this message when trying to share files: We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement. I have no clue why... for 2 years
Hey @KFit, thanks for reaching out to us.
I can see that you reached out to us about this 2 years ago and a ticket was opened for you, but there was no reply, so the ticket closed.
Can I email you, so we can look into your issue internally?
Let me know.
Over 13 years of trust I've had in this paid backup server, and now for the first time they ban me for a rar batch file I recently uploaded in order to send to my boss so he can get the new computers setup at the new business complex we just moved into today.....if I can't rely on them not to cause me issues or lock me out of accessing or using my storage, then I'll start moving my terabytes of data over to our work servers. Really makes me feel like I've trusted them all these years, but they can't reciprocate? I guess that's business for ya tho.
😒

Its also law. They'd be in trouble, and putting all our data at risk, if they allowed the transfer of copyright materials.
However, there are ways to do this, legitimate ones - using Transfer or Shared Folders within Dropbox.
After years of not using my Dropbox account I logged in and when I tried to share a file I was greeted with:
Error in call to API function 2 sharing create shared link with settings: We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You
Hi @sv252, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
It sounds like access to your sharing was paused on your account.
Have you checked this article to see if any of the files you're trying to share, or have already shared, breaches the Terms of Service?
Hi @Jay
I did review that article and didn't see anything in my account that would breach the TOS. I did remove some files that I had backup but were not shared just in case those were the problem files. So I'm not sure at this point.
Thanks for the info, I've sent you an email, please could you reply to it when you get a chance? If there's anything else we can assist with, feel free to reply back here!
I recently tried to share a file from my dropbox account and was unable with the following error message:
Can’t share file We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement.
We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement.
I removed all previously shared files just in case there was anything that was accidentally shared that was against TOS and I apologize. Could you please help me?
TYSM
Hi @kempec, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Also check out some of our FAQs on this page. The one titled "Dropbox account suspended for excessive public-link traffic" might help shed some light on the issue.
Keep in mind that I used your Community-linked email address to send you an email, in order for us to investigate further. Reply back to me, and we'll take it from there.
Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for your prompt response, @Megan. Yes, I have gone through that FAQ and removed any content that I might have shared in the past accidentally that could have triggered this.
If you think there is something else, please let me know, and I will remedy. Thank you!
Thanks @Mark - the support team has opened a separate ticked and is following up with me. Appreciate your reply!
