Public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic.

I got a notice last week saying my public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic. I looked at links, and I don't have very many - and haven't added any new ones in a long time.

I clicked the link to remove the suspension and it worked. Then I got the same message again and the link now won't let me reset it. I don't even know what is causing the excessive traffic.

I looked in my shared folders and most that are shared are small. There are some large folders that were shared with me, but they say "You haven't joined this folder."

Any idea how I can find the source, and get this suspension removed?

Thanks for the screenshot! As a test, can you please go to your Dropbox account now and let me know if you’re still getting an error? You can attempt to share one of your folders, for example, to test this out.

Welcome to our Community, enerjazz! Hope you’re doing well.

Your Dropbox account’s sharing activity can be interrupted indeed, if you exceed your daily bandwidth limit, as outlined here.

While it's not possible to pinpoint exactly which folder/file caused this exactly, could one of the bullet points mentioned in the Help Center article above apply in your case, as well?

If you're still getting the same error now, can you please send me a screenshot of it?

Hi there, I'm having the same issue. It allowed me to get back into sharing yesterday and now today it said the same thing that I've exceeded my limit as far as the amount of space that I have. It's telling me that I'm using 34 gigs and I'm only currently using nine. I've stop sharing with everyone so I don't understand what the issue is. Thanks for any help.

Hi @Gelindo, the pausing of your shared links would be due to breaching the daily bandwidth limit, and isn't related to the amount of quota on your account.

Is it possible that you were sharing links to large files, or links that were accessed by many people?

Hi Jay, my friend was trying to upload a big file, but was unable to so that might explain it where it was going over the limit and then it kicked it back out. But that was two days ago. However, his friend then sent me the file from his dropbox today and I did a direct download to my external hard drive. Could it have been that?

Hi Walter, no, it looks like the issue has taken care of itself. I think that that was the problem was that my friend was trying to upload that big file. Thanks for all your help.
