Shared folder is taking up space in my personal Dropbox account.

I am doing short term work for a client (1 month) and they have shared a folder with me that I will need to access and edit via dropbox, which I do not use for my business. I created a free account, and when attempting to access the folder, it prompts me to upgrade my account due to storage.

Though, I am not the folder owner, and do not need any storage whatsoever, as I use a better cloud storage, why would I need to pay for a membership to do short term edits to a clients documents. Again, I DO NOT NEED STORAGE, I AM ONLY VIEWING AND MAKING EDITS.

Hey @JeremyB13, let's jump right into this!

Keep in mind that when joining a shared folder, you basically add it to your Dropbox account, which is why it takes up space from it like any other personal file would. You can read more about this here.

Now, if you mostly need view-only access to the folder in question, the owner can send you a shared link instead, so that you don’t have to add it to your Dropbox account at all.

You wouldn't be able to edit the folder's content though.
