i have seen this come up before, but haven't seen a fix.
when i duplicate a file, on mac (sonoma 14.6.1) i am unable to rename the file. this is a standard part of my work flow and highly frustrating.
Glad to hear the behavior doesn’t persist, at least for now. If this resurfaces though in the future, feel free to let us know here and we can continue looking into this.

@alex eben meyer There are only two 'fixes' so far: @karenap suggested restarting your Mac, which does make the problem go away for a while. The other is to rename the file using the Dropbox web page. I just upgraded from Sonoma to Sequoia 15.0.1 and the problem has NOT reappeared yet (fingers crossed). Best of luck.
a quicker fix for some issues is force quitting finder. (that helps when all the dropbox features in finder disappear). i haven't been having major issues of late, and restarting dropbox does seem to help. i feel like i used to have zero issues, but now i have some.
starting Dropbox has never worked for me – restating the Mac has though.
there are no clickable options on that page - how is that helpful ?
