I'm seeing a "What's New" page when permanently deleting my files.

When I select Permanently Delete under Deleted files in the browser interface and enter my correct password and confirm delete, I get a WHATS NEW info pop-up and the delete option closes when that window is closed. Screenshot here:

I am having this problem. first in safari, cleared cache, didn't work still
tried Chrome... still not working?? Not sure what else to try.

Hi @jaijai57, are you part of a Dropbox team? Is the file you're trying to permanently delete in personal or shared folder?

Does this occur for any file you're trying to permanently delete?

I have tried multiple things, including deleting items that only belong to me deleting everything in the deleted items and trying ones that have been shared with me as well. I realize I’m not trying to really delete those. I just don’t wanna see them anymore.
In any which way I’ve tried it. The same thing is happening.

Could you clarify exactly what happens when you are trying to permanently delete files? A screenshot showing this would help greatly.

Are you accessing the community from a desktop machine? Are you not able to see the camera icon in the reply box, like below?

Otherwise, you can copy and paste your screenshot in your reply, or use a Dropbox shared link and paste the link here.

Yes, I use 1password so I'm positive.

Okay, so you type in the password, then click on Permanently Delete, and the site takes you to that page and file isn't permanently deleted, is that correct?

no, I type in my password and then immediately I see the second image I sent you. It doesnt give me a chance to click on anything.

We wouldn’t be able to access it I’m afraid, @jaijai57. You can create a screen recording though and share it with us via a shared link.

I can also see you mentioned earlier you don’t really want to permanently delete those files, but rather not see them on your account. I just wanted to mention that, if you proceed with the permanent deletion later on, these files won’t be recoverable.

Feel free to give me a nudge when you have the shared link though.

Well, that’s confusing
It won’t matter that I’m deleting them because the person who created it also doesn’t need it anymore. The files I mean.
Honestly, this is why I don’t ease dropbox that much. It’s way more complicated than it needs to be in my opinion, but I’ve never had this issue before and I’ve always been able to delete files.
Anyway, I will send a screen recording link tomorrow

As mentioned above, we can’t access any external links due to security reasons.

Can you upload your screen recording to Dropbox instead and send a shared link to it?

Thanks for that, @jaijai57. I saw in your recording that you tried updating your web browser towards the end. Did that make any difference?

Are you seeing the same thing via another browser/incognito window?

ok... after all that I was able to delete files when in incognito mode in chrome. and to answer your other question... updating chrome did nothing.
So there's something you guys need to fix as I shouldn't have to work so hard eh? (yes I'm Canadian lol)

Glad to hear that worked! Besides updating Chrome, you can also try to restore it to its default settings/disable any browser plugins. The issue you're experiencing may be the result of a security setting or a plugin that you have installed on your browser.

Well, as I said at the very beginning, I tried this in Safari as well and it was giving me the same result so I don’t think you can blame plug-ins on the issue. I think it’s an issue that dropbox needs to deal with and as I said, this is why I generally don’t use dropbox but I’m happy to have this resolved. Thank you.
