Dropbox keeps asking my to enable permissions for storage in my mobile Samsung S23 Galaxy but there is no place to enable it. I want to synchronize all my photos and videos in the cloud.
Hi @Giova GT, thanks for messaging the Community!
The option should be in your phone settings.
For a Samsung device, it should be in the Permission manager section.
Keep me updated with any progress!
Hey @Sta91, let's jump right into this!
If I understand the end-goal here, that is to use our camera-upload feature, in order to backup your files, right?
If not, feel free to clarify more for me. Now, as a first step, can you let me know the exact OS and Dropbox version you're using?
Do you get any specific errors on your end, when trying to enable our camera uploads feature?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
Having similar problem on Samsung A54. If I click "turn on camera uploads" dropbox gives me the message "to enable camera uploads, allow Dropbox to access your storage" and a "settings" link. Clicking on the settings link takes me to an "app info" page for dropbox, with a Permissions link ... clicking on permissions lists camera, notifications, photos and videos, contacts ... AND NO "STORAGE" OPTION.
So, the original question stands: how do I enable camera uploads for dropbox on my Samsung phone?
Hi @R S12, I have the same phone and am not experiencing this issue.
Could you attach a screenshot showing the exact prompt you're receiving?
Jay - you've indicated users should go to the Permission manager section.
Please outline what you expect users to find there and what you expect them to do there.
Hi @R S12, I'd love to have a visual of the message you see on your end, along with the page it re-directs you too.
Also, how are your camera, notifications, photos and videos, contacts settings for Dropbox set-up? Are they enabled?
I am also experiencing this exact same problem. I have set Permissions for Camera and Photos and Videos, but I am still getting the message "To enable camera uploads, allow Dropbox to access your storage.". It's a Galaxy S23, Android OS. One UI version 6.0, Android version 14.
Hi All. I'm having the exact same problem. My device is a Samsung Galaxy S23.
Android OS, Android version 14. One UI version 6.0.
Dropbox version 368.2.2.
The Dropbox message to set the Storage takes me through to the Android Dropbox App permissions page. I have enabled all Permissions available there (i.e. Camera/Contacts/Notifications/Photos and Videos are all enabled). There are no other permissions available to enable.
It is still not working / I am still getting the error message on Dropbox "to enable camera uploads, allow Dropbox to access your storage" when I try to enable Camera Uploads in Dropbox.
Further to the above, my Photos and Videos permission is set to "Always allow all". Camera is set to "allow only while using the app".
Hey @FiggleWiggle! Did you reinstall the Dropbox app on your phone with these steps and it didn’t make a difference?
If not, can you send me a visual of the notification you keep receiving?
I’d also like one more screenshot of the permissions you’ve enabled so far, to have a closer look.
Let me know when you’re ready.
It is not there....it is nowhere on this model and it wasn't on the older models either, but it worked then. I've contacted customer service and they don't have an answer....isn't that nice! They said that they are working on an update (new version) to download and to keep checking! This is very frustrating to know that the issue is on their end, they will take our money, but not have a fully functioning product!
