My System is Mac Sonoma 14.1.1 and the dropbox stuck on a file which doesn't exist anymore. After I recognised the behaviour I deleted the file of the dropbox but it is sill on the sync mode. What can I do?
Hi @Stvno, would you mind sending me a couple of screenshots from your files as seen when you access your account on the web, and how the same folder looks locally inside your Dropbox folder?
Hi @Stvno! Hope you’re doing great.
Can you send me a screenshot of your Dropbox app’s current syncing status?
Did you remove this file via the Dropbox website, or your desktop app?
Also, what’s your Dropbox app’s version?
Let me know.
Dear Nancy, i removed the file via the desktop app (v.187.4.5691).And you'll find a screenshot attached.
Hi @Stvno, would you mind signing out of the app, and then back in to check if the behavior remains the same?
After i signed out all my files had to be redownloaded. So basically the the "stuck on synch" error is gone but now my already existing folders won't synchronize anymore. Only new Folder or files saved at the toplevel are synchronizing right now
Hey @Stvno, signing out of the app and then signing back in, wouldn't cause your files to stop syncing, but we'll get to the bottom of this.
What is the sync status of the app right now, when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar?
It is "up to date" but no existed folder is updating
Hi @Stvno, could you try quitting the Dropbox desktop application from the menu bar, and then delete the cache folder to see if this helps?
Could you then try to add a single text file on the site to see if it syncs?
Unfortunately it didn't help. The App says still up to date and there are clearly missing files which are seen at the web browser but not at the finder on my mac. Also i uploaded via web a simple text file in a non syncing folder and that wasn't synced either.
Thanks for the update, @Stvno.
Do the names of the files that are missing from your Dropbox folder have any of the characters in this article?
If not, open the Dropbox app's preferences and go to the "Sync" tab > "Select folders to sync to this Mac", to see if you can find the missing folders there.
No...there are no characters from your list. The Folders are already set to sync but no new file is updating
Hi,so apparently I found the solution over the weekend. The folders which are pinned to the quick access of the finder showed the status of each file at the moment of the reinstallation. So as I tried to make some screenshots I went through every quick access by hand and look what I found.Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for the ongoing support!
Absolute no inconvenience helping you @Stvno!
Wishing you an amazing week ahead, take care! 😎
