I tried logging on to keepass it says go to provider which is Dropbox but now Dropbox comes up with KDB files can't be previewed it never said this before am on A71 Samsung Android
Hi all, thank you for your feedback on this. We've passed it on to the team for their consideration.
For now, if you want to open a file with the KeePass app, you can do so by tapping the three dots (in browse or in the preview screen) and selecting the "Open With..." option.
Hey there @Digger1960, sorry to hear you're having issues with this,
Could you please let us know your device's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox mobile app installed there as well?
if you can also send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting, I'd appreciate it.
Keep us posted!
You can attach a screenshot to your reply via the camera icon (insert photo option) within your reply's box @Digger1960
If you're on a mobile device and not seeing it, you might need to request the desktop version of the site to bring the button up.
That would depend on the web browser you're using at the moment @Digger1960
There should be an option or setting that enables you to see the desktop version of the web-pages you're navigating to.
Thanks Walter

I began having the same issue this week. I can't conveniently send a screenshot at the moment, but the message is ".kdbx files can't be previewed", with an image of a very artistic unicorn. 🙂I've been using this feature successfully for several years until it broke late last week, and it's one of my key uses of DropBox.
I'm using the DropBox client version 346.2.6 for Android.
My Android device is a Pixel 4a (5G), with Android version 13, build number TQ3A.230805.001.
Thanks for whatever you might be able to do to help me restore this feature.
Thanks!

That sounds like you're trying to open the files in Dropbox, rather than in Keypass.
I tried logging on to keepass it says go to provider which is Dropbox
Can you provide the exact steps (please be specific) of how you're trying to open your Keypass file? Screenshots of each step would be best, if you can.
Hi I tried opening in keepass first but see attached screenshots
Rich--
I will respond for my own case. Two easy steps...
1. Open the Android Dropbox client.
2. Tap on the name of my .kdbx file.
This always worked splendidly in two friendly steps until breaking last week with the "Can't preview..." message.
Thanks for your assistance.

.Setting that allows other app to be opened by dropboxProblem message. Should open file in other app
I'm having the exact same problem. It always worked in the past but has stopped working now. KeePassDroid should open the file, it should not be attempting to preview it in dropbox.
Hey Rich,
I noticed on the web app that there is a "redesigned version" of the file view. You can turn it on now, or you can use the old one until 9/28. I switched between the two and I noticed that the old version had an "Open in..." button, and a dropdown menu with "Open in..." as well. The new version doesn't have an option to open in another app at all.
I also noticed that the "Open in..." button no longer works on the old version. Perhaps this is the source of the problem we're having?
Vastly
I have exactly this same problem too (happy to provide further info if needed)
Hi rich
It's hard to explain but if I haven't opened keepass for a week it won't open the directory doesn't look right so after I try to put in password I get message go to your profider I only know is if I go to Dropbox where the updates from keepass gos than I usually click on it and keepass opens up and it's fine
The first screenshot shows you the directory doesn't look right and second screenshot is error I get and third shot is after I gone through Dropbox if this makes sense
Thanks for help

The solution above worked for me on my Galaxy S23 Ultra. Thank you. I will be interested to know when this is fixed so that I can get to my KeePass database via Dropbox the normal way. Thank you!
This relates to an android phone. There is no option on the ".kdbx files can't be previewed" display to "open with". This is new within the last month. It used to work just fine by just selecting the .kdbx file in Dropbox.
bs10: Yes, here's how to get to that 3-dot menu containing Open With... on Android:
1. Open dropbox on your Android.
2. Go to the location in dropbox of your .kdbx database.
3. You should see the database file KeyPass.kdbx.
4. To the right of the file, tap the 3-dot menu.
5. Down near the bottom of the resulting menu, you should see Open with...
6. Tap Open with... and the KeyPass login screen should open.
7. Login as normal.
Hi @Dragon open not securety code, I hope you're doing well!
I'm not entirely sure about your situation, would you be able to let me know a bit more?
Keep me posted, thanks!
Hi everyone Dropbox has now added an option open with without having to go to the 3 dots see screenshot attached
