hello, Mac OS Ventura 13.0.1 (22A400) - when I right click on a folder and select "Copy Dropbox link" nothing is copied to the clipboard. I have restarted Finder, restarted the machine, reinstalled the app, no dice. thanks.
@Jay Hi Jay. I've resolved the issue with Dropbox Support - thank you. They tell me I'd been banned for some reason. All sorted now, thanks.
Sorry for jumping in, @Gr8sons.
I just logged a ticket for you. When possible, please reply back to it, and we’ll further check this.
Yes, I just downloaded using that link. It seems I'm able to copy the link, but I'm still not seeing the checkmarks.
The dropbox app reads Your Files Are Up To Date.
Hi @rastro2, would you mind trying these steps to see if they help?
Click on the Dropbox icon in your menu bar and quit the applicationOpen your Activity Monitor from your Mac Utilities folderForce quit out of the instances of the Dropbox application that are running by searching for "Dropbox" in the search bar, then clicking on the "x" force quit icon on the top leftRe-start Dropbox from the applications folder by double clicking on the Dropbox applicationClick on the Apple icon in the top left of your screenClick on "force quit"Relaunch the finder
If this doesn't improve the icon situation, feel free to send me a screenshot as to how the files and folders look inside your Dropbox folder, so I can have visual too.
I tried all of those steps, and it didn't help.
I've attached a screen shotl
BTW, this is happening on both of my Macs. A 2021 14 inch MacBook Pro, and my new Mac Studio. Both running Ventura OS 13.2.1
I've attached a screen shot from my MacBook Pro. As you can see, there are no checkmarks next to the folders.
Hi @rastro2, it will sound trivial but have you tried restarting your device?
If you have, I'd suggest that you try an advanced reinstall, and come back with the results.
I did all of that, including the advanced reinstall, but still no checkmarks.
Hi @rastro2, in this case, can I send you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this?
Sure
Hi @Megan,
may I please chime in – I also have the problem that in the Finder's context menu the "Share…" or "Copy Dropbox-Link…" just don't work. They are there but nothing happens when clicking on them. I already restarted the Mac and reinstalled Dropbox app. My specs are:
MacBook Pro (2023), Apple M2 Pro
macOS Ventura 13.2.1, fresh install
Dropbox 170.4.5895
Are there any permissions I have to grant in the System settings?
Thanks for your help.
Happy Monday @rastro2 & @Arroyodorado, I just sent you both an email, I'll see you there!
I have this same issue. I click "Copy Dropbox Link" but there is nothing on my clipboard. Nothing to paste.
Yes, this bug returned during the last few months, I don't know exactly with which version number. I'll try to re-open this issue…
Hey @domlet and @Arroyodorado, sorry to see you're having this issue.
Since there's a new version of the Dropbox app out, can you try updating to it and see if the issue persists on the latest version as well?
Hi @Hannah,
thanks for pointing out the update, this indeed solved the issue! For some reason (or maybe for the very reason of this thread) I had a Beta-Version installed which once solved the issue and then broke again. But with the official release the Finder-integration is now back up again. Hopefully this will last… 8-)
Thanks and Cheers,
Werner
No worries, Werner, I'm glad to see it worked!
If the issue comes back, do let us know.
Have a great day!
Hello!
Same issue here on one of my two Mac Minis.
Mac Mini 2018 (Intel).
Ventura 13.6.
Dropbox app 183.4.7058.
Thanks for any idea...
Hey @The Cakewalker, thanks for letting us know about this.
If this persists after rebooting your computer, could you send us a screenshot of the options you get when you right/control click on your files in the Dropbox folder?
Also, where's the Dropbox folder located as per the sync tab In the app's preferences?
Hello Walter!
Thanks for your reply.
The location of the Dropbox folder is the new default:
/Users/(UserName)/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox
Best!
Thanks for the screenshot, @The Cakewalker!
Can you try to give Dropbox full disk access, to see if that helps at all?
Hello Hannah!
Thanks for answering and suggesting the full disc access option.
Having 2 additional Macs here - both without any Dropbox issue - I checked that setting before.
None of them has full disc access for Dropbox or any other app.
But I tryed nevertheless.
Setting full disc access, restarting Dropbox and in addition the Mac.
No success...
The Mac having the issue was the first migrated to the new Dropbox system.
At that time with older versions of Ventura and Dropbox.
Havent tryied "Copy Dropbox Link" for a while on that Mac.
So maybe the issue persists since the migration.
Best regards!
Hi @The Cakewalker, can I please send you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this?
Hello Megan!
Yes, you are welcome.
FWIW I've been fighting this issue since first reported last February. Despite attempting every fix suggested by Dropbox, I've finally resigned myself to this feature not working.
Interestingly, it works if I force the configuration back to the NON Dropbox-is-nested-in-iCloud-folder. But that promptly triggers a warning from Dropbox that I don't have it configured correctly and will soon be disabled.
Since I don't need to copy a Dropbox link very often, my workaround is to use a browser to navigate to my Dropbox account and copy the link from there. This at least is reliable.
Hi @The Cakewalker, I just sent you an email!
I'll see you there!
For quite a while now (many months) when I right click in my Mac finder and select "create dropbox link" there copy is blank and there is nothing to paste. I am using an iMac with Monterey, but this happened with previous OS versions as well.
My business partners who are also using dropbox just started experiencing this same problem in the last few days. They have not made any changes to their hardware or software.
Any ideas? I have searched forum, installed and re-installed dropbox, etc.
Hey @windwisher, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
What's the desktop app's exact status and version as shown in your menu bar at the moment?
Note that you can use these steps to create shared links for your files in the meantime.
Keep us posted!
The status says "your files are up to date".
The version number is v184.4.6543.
Interestingly, when I went into dropbox.com and tried to tried to create link to share, I received a message saying that my files may contain phishing content. This is not possible and happens with any file or any file type, or directlory, that I try to create a sharable link from. I've attached a screen shot.
Hi @windwisher, I think this might have been the culprit.
It sounds like your shared links may have been banned.
If it's been a while since you first got this error message, may I reach out via email to have a further look into this matter?
Let me know and I'll use the email address that's connected to your profile here, in our Community.
Yes, it has been a while that I've been receiving this message. Since then I have had my assistant create links for me. But, in the last few days my assistant and my two partners can no longer create links.
Yes, you can contact me via email, thank you!
Hi @windwisher, I just sent you an email.
I'll see you there, cheers!
