I have lost the tool bar across the top where I could move, copy, delete files etc
Hi @ronlw, how are you today?
Does this happen inside your Dropbox folder specifically, or generally on your device?
I suggest that you restart your device, and see what happens.
Keep in mind that you might have changed the settings, and hidden it, however in this case and even though I'd love to guide you, it's important to note that it is outside the scope of our support, since this might be an OS issue.
I hope this clarifies.
I closed, opened, uninstalled, reinstalled. Not sure what else to do
Hi @ronlw, is this behavior taking place only inside your Dropbox folder?
yes
Hey @ronlw, sorry to jump in here, but could you send us a screenshot showing where you used to see your toolbar before?
I'd like to have a visual of the issue, so we can guide you better!
so here is a screen shot of what it did look like and what it does look like.
note the tool bar across the top. second picture is the way it used to be
HI @ronlw, these appear to show two different applications, Explorer and Microsoft Word. Where exactly is the difference, and how is it related to Dropbox?
My dropbox tool bar used to look like that and I am wondering why it has changed. I can't move anything around or edit anything on dropbox anymore.
the first picture with the houses is my dropbox
You're viewing the Dropbox folder within Explorer, and the toolbar belongs to the Windows interface, and isn't related to Dropbox itself.
Have you tried changing any of your OS settings to see if they help?
not a clue how to do this. sorry
Since Windows 11 disables it by default, you can re-enable the menu using these steps I found on the web.
Right-click the title bar above the URL address bar in the browser and select the Menu Bar check box. The menu bar will display unless you clear the Menu Bar check box again to hide it.
Let me know if this helps.
Didn't help. I uninstalled and reinstalled. There was no bar to right click on. I am so frustrated right now!
As the steps I found didn't work, and as this is a Microsoft application, I'd recommend getting in contact with them directly on how to re-enable this feature on Windows 11.
