Photo backup on iPhone isn’t working

I’ve been using Dropbox to backup my iPhone and noticed recently it’s been really slow. Last night I went to back it up again but it just said it was starting photo backup, but it still hasn’t found any photos or videos.

I’ve restarted the app, my phone and turned off photo backup and left it before trying again, I’ve tried airplane mode with WiFi. I’ve tried using my data, but it’s not finding anything. Or doing anything. I’ve been using Dropbox alongside iCloud and haven’t had any problems until this. I’ve used about 6% of the 2tb storage I’ve got.

Any help on this?

some photos or video aren't still retrieved therefore not uploaded from the dropbox backup.
a workaround was to delete the media and then restoring it to start the upload, now not even this

please restore old backup/uploader engine or whatever it is

just an update: the same problems are occurring still, nothing has been fixed. hopefully dropbox get this sorted out soon, @Megan, do you know if I could get any money back? its inconvenient when you have to sign in every time you have files to upload. thanks

Agreed. Users have reported this issue in detail over the last several months, but Dropbox has not prioritized a fix. The only workaround is to log out and log back in again (but this only works if you keep the app open - the second you close it, the same issue happens).

To pay a full annual subscription for a tool that's not working seems wrong.

@k_svensson have you noticed when you have to sign back in, the camera upload option isn't there? I didn't have that problem until this issue had already been going on for a while. I have to go through to the Account / camera uploads manually. not that big of an issue, but its just another problem.

that and some files are duplicates, and others just aren't there. that bothers me more than having to sign in and out. is anybody else having these problems or is this separate?

This has been happening with me since March, @Megan has been in touch and I updated my iOS software as suggested, but still it didn’t work.
Last week I upgraded my phone, and still Dropbox isn’t working.
I’ve basically been without this service now for almost 5 months.
I’d like a refund and I won’t be renewing.
Anyone else been successful in getting a refund?

@KerryL28 I'm considering it. I really want dropbox to sort this mess out because when its working properly I really prefer it to other cloud storages. the specialist team just say they're working on it, but obviously there's been several updates since this problem started and its just getting worse. hopefully we can get some money back though

I updated to 244.2.2 on iPhone 11 Pro with up to date iOS and it’s still not resolved 😠

Mine has been mostly working on neweest app version on iPhone 12, though occasionally I have to "jumpstart" it by clearing cache. That seems to trigger new photo uploads.

Finally, after almost 5 months, and having to login every time I wanted to do an upload, a few days ago it started working again!
I had previously tried everything, updating iOS, updating Dropbox, clearing cache, you name it, I tried it.

Hooray! It good news, because I was going to spend next week moving everything from Dropbox and cancel before my yearly renewal was due in September.

But not immediately, after a week of the Dropbox update!

Mine is working again too, it seems. The update has done something to the thumbnail and how many files it says it has to upload which I don’t like but I’m just glad it’s actually working again
