Was hoping someone could help me with this please.
I've followed the instructions - but recipients of an email with a "link" I've pasted into an email are still asked to sign into their account to access the file.
Many thanks for your help.
Hello Jay,Many thanks for your reply - I really appreciate it.After posting my note to the community, I managed to figure out the problem: I wasn't using the 'copy link' function correctly. So the way I resolved it was, from within the Dropbox online portal:1/ Click on share for the file I wanted to share;2/ Click on the 'copy link' option - right at the bottom of the dialogue box, ignoring the possibility of including an email address at the beginning of the dialogue box;3/ Open up an new message on Mail (on iMac) and paste in the link, into the body of the email. With this approach, the email recipient is directed straight to the opened PDF file.Going back over the original instructions, this accorded with the approach indicated. It was the presence of fields to enter the recipients email address, before getting to the 'copy link' right at the bottom of the respective dialogue box, that was the mistake I made.So many thanks again for your help.Cheers,Mark.

It's an option; not a requirement. Dropbox is simply offering them the opportunity to sign into their own account (so they can save the file directly to their account without downloading) or to create a new account if they don't have one. If they don't want an account, they can simply close the window and continue to the file.
Hi @Mark41, thanks for posting on the Community!
Could you check if the shared link has invites only or passwords enabled on it?
Try removing all the requirements if there's any and let me know how it goes!
No worries, glad to hear that you were able to resolve this, @Mark41!
That option you mentioned allows you to share files directly with other Dropbox users (so, they do need an account) and those files can be accessed on this page on their account.
Enjoy your week ahead!
I am having the same issue, but the proposed solution doesn't work for me. I want to share a link with restrictions, they shouldn't be able to download the file and I'm going to restrict access on a certain date (https://help.dropbox.com/files-folders/share/set-link-permissions) per your own instructions. However, when I send this link to another person, they are prompted to sign in (see screenshot). I want the other person to be able to view the file that I'm sharing without them having to log on (because they don't have dropbox, their company doesn't allow it). Please help! Thank you.
P.S. even when I remove all restrictions (not downloading and expiration date) it still doesn't work. If I copy and paste the link to a different browser where I'm not logged on, I'm prompted to log on and can't access the file.
Hi @Sytske, thanks for messaging today!
Are you on a Dropbox Business team? It seems like you're getting this message because of team permissions.
The team admin most likely only allows members of the same team to access the shared link, which is why it’s asking for a sign in using SSO.
I’d recommend checking with the admin for more assistance on this matter. You can find out who they are from this page.
Hope this helps to clarify matters!
