Finder and Dropbox desktop app not showing file preview

Hi there @DerekKelly,

As a first step, could you please check if you have the latest stable version of the desktop app (79.4.143) by hovering over the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock?

If you do, could you please send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of how the files appear in your Finder and desktop app?

I have version 80.3.116.

Could you try relaunching Finder by following the steps below?

Click on the Dropbox icon from your Desktop and quit the application.
Open your Activity Monitor from your Mac Utilities folder.
Force quit out of the instances of the Dropbox app that are running by searching for "Dropbox" in the search bar, then clicking on the "x" force quit icon on the top left.
Re-start Dropbox from the apps folder by double clicking on the Dropbox app.
Click on the Apple icon in the top left of your screen.
Click on "force quit".
Relaunch the finder.

Once you do this, please reboot your device - maybe that will do the trick.

Why you use early release? Try turn off "Early Releases" from here and install stable one locally.

Okay I turned off early release. How do I downgrade from 80 to 79 or whatever the most stable version is?

I downgraded to 79.4.143 and still not seeing preview of files on Mac OS

Do you use "Smart Sync"? And if so, is there some relationship to the online status set?

I do and all folders are set to online only.

Oh... I see. I'm up to here. 😞 This is known problem, but without stable solution still, I think. One workaround would be for files, you need most, status to be changed to available locally. Probably Lusil's could be able give further advises.

Could you let me know if you see a change in behavior after installing the latest version of the desktop app (79.4.143) and then rebooting your device?

To do this, you'll first need to uncheck the box to "include me in early releases" in your General tab on the website and then install the desktop app.

Let me know what you find!

I have the same problem, I just migrated to Dropbox but I can't see the preview, if this continues I will have to leave Dropbox.
