How can we search the content of our files and not just file names?

I've read the prior posts. Dropbox will allow us to search for exact words in a file name, but not in the data contained in those files. We have fifteen years of data, both personal and business, in Dropbox. We're rather floored that Dropbox does not feel this capability isn't critical.

So, Dropbox, where are you on providing this capability? And please don't insult me by saying "Oh, that's a great idea for a new feature!" The ability to search on precise terms has been around for decades in other systems and products.

That is correct.

Also, please provide a link to a page that shows all these other plans.

Some of those are old depreciated plans now. All the plans you can see/buy are available at www.dropbox.com/plans

It appears we use "Dropbox Plus", but the only option is to move to "Dropbox Standard". On the page you referenced I see that full-text search is supported on "Dropbox Professional, Essentials, Standard, Business, Advanced, Business Plus, and Enterprise".

Please confirm this ability is not available on the "Plus" subscription, and that we'd have to pay more to upgrade to a "Standard" plan. Also, please provide a link to a page that shows all these other plans. Thanks.

Is the search "precise search" instead of "Fuzzy Search"? Example: If I search for "police", I only want it to return instances of "Police", and not "policy", for example.

Hi there! When using content/full-text search, the results you get should be matching the keyword you used. So, if you’re looking for files that contain the word "police”, you should only get results with the exact match.
