A referral was marked as 'Ineligible', but I followed all the instructions

Hi -

I am a long time Dropbox user and just referred my girlfriend. She used the link to register using her email address, and she installed the desktop app on her own laptop but the status of the extra storage for my referral says "Ineligible". We do live together and are on the same network, but she has her own computer and her own account which should be all that's required. Can someone please look into this? I would appreciate the bonus storage space for the referral. Thank you.

Hi @mchas, thanks for messaging the Community.

In general, the referrals could be marked as ineligible if the referral is activated using the same computer network as the original referrer.

As it sounds like you were both on the same network, this would be why it was marked as ineligible.

I have a problem vith Ineligible status too. I have send few invites recently (mostly to collegues and my students), but almost all of them reveived this status. They are in didfferent cities and never used Dropbox before. Something is wrong here for sure. Can you help me, please?

Yes, of course, I checked that. The problem is that I gave the referral link to various people who 100% definitely didn’t use Dropbox (they hadn’t even heard of it before), who also have their own personal laptops and are located in different cities (which rules out IP overlap), and who don’t use a VPN (there’s no need for that in our country) :(
