How can I leave a shared folder?

Hello,

I'm trying to remove myself from a shared folder that I don't own in order to free up space in my account. The help page I referenced says that the best way to remove myself temporarily is to click on the three dots of the folder and choose delete. However, when I try to do that, it says that doing so will delete the folder for everyone with access, even though I'm not the owner. So I'm not exactly sure what will happen if I delete the folder. In that case, you can safely delete the shared folder.

It should only remove it from your own account temporarily, as you can then rejoin the folder from the shared tab.

This would also free up the quota on your Dropbox account which was taken up by the shared folder.

[edit] Ah, just saw your other post. You can't delete a subfolder from a shared folder, as it would result in deleting the subfolder for the other members of the shared folder.

You can only remove yourself from the shared folder entirely to free up the quota.

Also, I took a look at the share settings. I have the option to "remove my access" from the main folder but not the subfolders. I haven't done it yet because I still need to go through the other subfolders to make sure there's nothing I need. (I was trying to delete a subfolder in my original question, in case that's relevant.)

Hi Jay, I click on the member list, the other person is listed as owner, and I'm listed as "can edit"
