Dropbox tells me that I'm over-quota, but I only see 2.4GB of files.

Question or Issue

As a basic user I see that I am entitled to 3 GB of storage space. Dropbox tells me that I use 3.03GB of 3GB. However, I can see that my dropbox folder has 2,4GB. I have checked the cache as well and it is empty. Is there a bug or something that I miss?

Thanks for dropping by the community @parisppdo, to start I would investigate these things

• Shared folders: They count against your quota even if stored locally in a different location or not synced. Have you added any shared folders to your account?
• Deleted files that are still in the deleted items list continue to count until permanently deleted.
• Backups: Dropbox Backups count toward total storage and may not appear in the local Dropbox folder.

 

When we encounter issues like yours, one of these is usually the culprit
