I didn't receive my referral bonus, even though I've followed all the steps.

I recently joined the Dropbox community by receiving a referral email from a friend.

I use the link of the email, made my subscription, verified my email and installed om my new computer.

Never than less, I still have only 2 GB space. The email said I would have 500 Megas extras space.

What happened?

Have you also signed in to the desktop app on your computer and the referral space hasn’t been granted to your Dropbox accounts yet?

Other than that, I can see that you’ve also posted under the Portuguese section of our forum (in this thread); would you prefer to continue in English here, or in Portuguese instead?

The bonus space isn't actually added instantly. You have to go through all the steps to claim it, and it will likely take some time for it to appear. So if it's still not there after a day or two, you should check the status of the claim in your Dropbox account settings.

Thats not correct when you join via a referral link actually. Its instant just for joining as long as you have installed it on a computer (mobile devices do not count).

Hi Nancy,

I prefer to continue in English.

I installed the desktop app. My computer runs a Windows Server 2019. Regarding to what tiffanywalkEr said, I did go through the steps: Signing in using the referral link I received, than installing the desktop app. My email already is checked since I used the email link I received.

Hi Mark.

The windows app is running smoothly. And I am impressed how fast it download / upload the files. Works better than onedrive.

But it might be the reason why I didn´t get the promised bonus.

If that is the case, they should advise new users so we don´t get frustrated

I really dont know if it is the case, but, I suppose it is advised in a way because it isnt supported and has, in the past, caused issues for people where syncing stops suddenly.

Hey @jezz, sorry to see that you're having an issue with your referral.

Can you give us some more info, so we can assist you further?

Are you the one that sent the referral or are you the recipient?

If you're the sender, can you check the status of the referral?

Or if you're the recipient, can you ask the person who sent it to you, to check the status and let us know?

I have sent two invitations, to my wife (Laptop) and my son (Desktop PC), so that they can use their own Dropbox. But for both referrals are marked as "Ineligible"

Are all computers connected to the same network?

Have your wife and son verified their Dropbox email address?

Yes all computers are on the same network, son's Desktop on LAN, wife's Laptop on WiFi.

They both have verified their emails and both have installed Dropbox Desktop app.

As far as I know, Dropbox marks as ineligible when the invite is accepted by people using computers on the same network.
