I am not an idiot. Dropbox will NOT let me cancel my account. What is up with Dropbox?

Then you can cancel your subscription through the Dropbox website, at the bottom of your Subscriptions page.

Did you upgrade through the Dropbox website, or through the app on a mobile device (Apple App Store/Google Play Store)?
No, that does not work. I have gone to Manage Account. There is NOTHING at the bottom of the page that say Cancel Account. There is nothing there.
Hey @Victoria210 - is it possible that you're looking at an account that's on the free, Basic plan perhaps?
If that's so, it's normal that you don't get a cancel option.
If you'd like to delete your account instead of cancelling a subscription though, you should be following these steps.
Nope, does not work. There is nothing at the bottom of the page that says Cancel Subscription
No, I am logged into my account. I go to the icon with my name and go to Manage Account. There is nothing there to cancel my subscription.
I do not want to delete my account. I am finished with my book and no longer need a subscription. I just want to cancel my paid subscription
What does you plan tab report @Victoria210?
No, I pay a monthly fee. I have logged in, then went to Manage Account. On the Manage Account page there is nothing there. There is not any place to cancel my subscription.
It has: Personal Drop Box Space. Underneath that is Account Settings and underneath that is License Keys. That's it.

What plan does it say you're on when you visit this page? Please take a screenshot if you can, being sure to mask any private information like your email.
It says Basic Plan. I pay $11.99 per month.
I can't take a screen shot. It won't allow a Word document
Why can't someone just cancel my account?
@Victoria210 wrote: Why can't someone just cancel my account?
Because the people here on the forum don't have access to your account details. It's a community forum, not Support. But, we'll get to that in a minute. For now we're just trying to help you figure out what steps you need to take.
@Victoria210 wrote: It says Basic Plan. I pay $11.99 per month.
This is why we've been asking the questions that we've been asking. You're on the Basic plan, which is a free plan. You're having a difficult time cancelling because there's nothing to cancel on that account. If you're being charged, it's for a different account.
Use the credit card charge lookup tool to identify the account that you're paying for. If you recognize the email address, try signing into Dropbox with that email address, resetting the password if needed. Once signed in, try to cancel the subscription.
If you don't recognize the email address or you're unable to sign in, you'll need to contact Support directly. To contact Support, visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
Also, if you don't recognize the account, you should contact your bank.
Thank you for that. I'm using my debit card and can see the charge on my account.
Were you able to locate the account you're being charged for using the look up tool Rich provided earlier @Victoria210?
Me too. I cancelled and downgraded my account. Yet I'm still getting charged. It's ridiculous. I've written to them cancel the account and send me refunds on numerous occasions. I cancelled it back in November 2023. I don't have time to keep chasing them! Whenever I'm in my account it asks do I want to upgrade to a paying level of storage. Proof that they should not be charging me!!!
I contacted my bank and told them what happened and told them to block the charges, which they did. Contact your bank or credit card company and have them block the charges. It worked for me.
This is happening to me also - what a poor business plan. I am disappointed and do not have time to try and figure out how to get reimbursed.
Hi @MK45, are you not able to cancel your Dropbox subscription by following these steps?
What are you seeing when trying to do so?
no I do not see those options- I have been on this for over an hour and am very frustrated. Thanks for trying to help.I will fight to not loose $200 for a subscription I do not use. I needed it for a class. My fault for giving my credit card but I have tried to stay on top and cancel with no luck. I am cynical and suspicious of programs that make it this difficult, do not have a customer service number you can call and the chat is just generated AI
I charged my amex card and they are saying they can't help 😞
As you're not seeing those options try contacting our support team directly. You can do this by opening an incognito/private browsing window, while not signed into your account, and accessing this link, choose 'Other' and then put in an email address that you can access, followed by your billing info.
I have now found a way to cancel my plan and I have changed to basic, it was sort of miraculous how this appeared. I would like to assure that I will be refunded the $199 that is pending on my American Express card. Please send me an email or chat letting me know there will be no charge, or I will be refunded. Thank you
Do you see a refund receipt on this page on your account?
yes thank you - that was a lot of work to get that done but thank you for making it possible.
I clicked the link on he bottom of my subscription page. Nothing happened. I've done it several times and nothing. And, of course, Dropbox has no humans working there. What a scam. I've been trying for two weeks at different times, he same process and nothing. My subscription "renews" at the end of the the month (Sept 2024) and I need to cancel before then. Other than taking legal action against them, is there any way to get to someone who can help with this?
