Sync "camera uploads" to mac Photos without creating a copy

Hi,

I use Dropbox and not iCloud for storing my photos from my iPhone (Camera uploads) and syncing them to my mac. But handling and viewing photos in Dropbox is ****** (especially since they dropped Carousel), so I would like to be able to view them in macos Photos. But I do not want to copy them into Photos, since I already have copies of them on my mac and don't want to use extra storage space with doubles.

So how do I get around that predicament?  - I've seen older similar discussions and proposals for solutions, e.g. putting the Photos library into the dropbox folder, but is that a valid solution? A

nd can I sync photos from my phone into that folder?

What you'd like to do isn't really recommended or even possible, if you're on a computer using Dropbox for macOS on File Provider.

 

I will however, pass your comments along to our team and I will leave this thread open, in case another user has some kind of workaround or tips for you.
