hello, Mac OS Ventura 13.0.1 (22A400) - when I right click on a folder and select "Copy Dropbox link" nothing is copied to the clipboard. I have restarted Finder, restarted the machine, reinstalled the app, no dice. thanks.
@Jay Hi Jay. I've resolved the issue with Dropbox Support - thank you. They tell me I'd been banned for some reason. All sorted now, thanks.
Hi @mattiaa, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you check the site for that specific folder to confirm if a shared link has been created there?
Does this occur when copying shared links for other folders or files on your account?
Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!
We are having the same problem. Any link I create and copy is not copied to clipboard. When I go to paste it anywhere there is nothing there. Looking forward to hearing the solution to this.
it's working again for me today, but I dont know what happened to make it work, I took no action on my end since it was last not working....
I'm glad to hear it's working now and thanks for keeping us in the loop @mattiaa
Can you let us know if it's working for you now as well @Mandy_Yuille?
It's not. It allows me to 'copy the dropbox link', but when I got to paste nothing is there.
Can you confirm your device's OS and the app's exact status and version as shown in your menu bar then @Mandy_Yuille?
Have you rebooted your computer since you first noticed this?
We seem to have survived the relocation of Dropbox files to the System library. However, since that change forced by the MacOS (we're running Ventura now, but this problem persisted under Monterey) the right-click menu option Copy Dropbox Link doesn't work: nothing is copied to the clipboard.
Files seem to be syncing as expected and the other menu options, including View on Dropbox.com all work.
I didn't realize how often I used this menu option until the last couple months. When it works, it's much more convenient than navigating to the folder online and copying the link from there.
Any fixes? I'm hoping I'm not the first to discover this bug.
Hey @Gr8sons, thanks for letting us know about this.
Can you check which version of the Dropbox application you're using and what's the sync status?
You can hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, to see this info.
Let me know and we'll go from there.
Dropbox v167.4.4719
Sync status is Up to Date. However it warns me that it can't sync the Public folder, which has nothing in it.
Thanks for the update here!
If you close the Dropbox app and then relaunch it from your applications folder, does that help at all?
Also, please make sure you restart your computer as well, if you haven't done so already.
I've tried both of those steps multiple times. This has been an issue since about Thanksgiving, BTW.
I've even worked thru the delete and reinstall process as outlined in the Help Center. No joy.
I've now discovered that *none* of the right-click menu options work, including the Open on Dropbox.com. I deleted and re-install of the app. Still no joy.
never mind, issue is back today, here is a video:link removed
Apple MBP 16" M1 Max // 13.0.1 (22A400). dropbox Mac OS app v167.4.4719. thanks.
Hi @Gr8sons, it might sound trivial, but have you re-started your device, by any chance?
Also, feel free to send me a few screenshots of what you see when you right click on a file/folder, in order for me to have a visual of the steps you described above.
Hi @mattiaa, I've removed your shared link, because that could cause too much traffic for your Dropbox account, since we're in the Community.
As for the issue, it might sound trivial, but have you tried rebooting your device at all ever since the issue resurfaced?
Also, could you let me know the Dropbox app's version that you're using on your device?
I have tried rebooting the computer. When I go to dropbox in the menu bar and click system preferences and general the 'about dropbox' is v167.4.4719. Is that what you are looking for?
all the info you ask for is already posted by me in this thread, thank you.
Yeah, I've restarted several times. I always shut down at the end of the day and, interestingly, today the Dropbox app didn't auto-launch at start up. The System Settings have changed in Ventura so I don't seem to find a way to set/review the apps that are set to auto-launch.
The non-working menu options persist.
Screen shots attached.
Hey @Mandy_Yuille1 & @mattiaa, could you confirm that you've granted full disk access to Dropbox as outlined here?
If you did and this persists, a screenshot of the app's exact status as shown in your menu bar would be much appreciated.
In the meantime, you can use the website instead.
no dice. and my Mac settings are different from the ones linked in that article. for example I dont have any of this under Accessibility:
screenshot of dropbox app status from menu bar:
Can you send us the full-page screenshot so that we can see if the app is 'up to date' or still syncing @mattiaa?
Also, could you take a look at the app's preferences under the Sync tab and let us know where your Dropbox folder is located?
sure, thanks:
My files and sync are both up to date. Problem persists
Thank you both for your updates @mattiaa & @Mandy_Yuille1 - much appreciated.
Can you please confirm that you're not having any issues with sharing links to your files or folders when you do it through our website instead of the desktop app?
I am able to share links from the website, just not from finder.
getting links from the dropbox website/account is no issue. I am also using DB on an another Apple MBP M1 Pro 14" I own with Ventura 13.1 (22C65) and have no issues there, also with DB app v167.4.4719. thanks.
Thanks for clarifying that for me @mattiaa & @Mandy_Yuille1
Could you try reinstalling the app and let me know how it goes?
I already did that and no dice. I already specified that info in this thread. thanks.
I see, thanks for clarifying that for me @mattiaa
Would it be OK if we reach out via email to have a further look internally at this point?
yes pls, what info do you need from me to email me?
