Is there any plan that is even cheaper than the normal basic plan of 2000 tb? It happens that I want to have more storage space, but the cheapest plan is still quite expensive.

Hi @wdshieh, if your account is eligible, you could upgrade to the Dropbox Basic Extra plan, which offers all the existing features on Basic, but with 50 GB of quota.
Why can't dropbox provide cheaper options? Like 50GB for $5/year, 100GB for $10/year, 2000GB for $20/year, etc.?
Dropbox is so stingy! They offerer more space for us via "space race", but now they are taking them back!
Of course I know there are lots of other options for this similar services. But the question is that all other options are not as good as Dropbox. I have been using it for 4 years and throughout the whole time i have tried all different cloud storage programs, but none of them can compete with Dropbox.
This is an often asked question, and has been covered in detail before - if you want the indepth answer, search the forums, but the short answer is that smaller plans would cost Dropbox a significant amount of money from people downgrading from the current Pro plan to a smaller plan more suitable to their needs. When Dropbox trialled smaller plans a few years ago, the numbers of people upgrading were not enough to offset the loss of revenue from the numbers of people downgrading.
So Dropbox decided not to continue smaller plans.

I think your pricing policy is not right. 1TB for $99 is too much space for too much money. With Google I can have 100 Gb for $1.99 per month, which is more than enough for me. After being a premium user for more than 3 years, I am switching to Google Drive.
Dropbox trialled smaller plans in the past and found that they weren't financially viable.
And remember it was, until a few months ago, 100GB for $9.99/month.
It's worth noting that there have always been alternatives that are cheaper/bigger.If those are the only motivational factors, there's never been a shortage of choice.
Competition is a wonderful thing and if an alternative which is known to parse your stuff to deliver targeted ads hits that sweet spot, then all power to you.
Hello every bodyIn these days Dropobox wrote me to pay 9,99 €/month to keep 1TB. I think that is too expensive, there are free cloud drives with 10 TB, 1 TB or 100 GB for us, totally free with same services.I other way, 9,99€ x 12 months = 119,9€ in 1 year, with same money I can buy an 3 TB fisical hard disk every year. I 'm an old Dropobox customer but now I'm switching to other provider with 50 GB free.

Dropbox is very good,useful, but too expensive and no choose.People can get free space about 20GB, when free space is not enough, I will consider to buy additional space.The dropbox only 1T ,one choose, it's too expensive.If there are option (25G/25usd 50G/50usd 75G/75usd ),I thing people would pay to buy.The change is slow, it is hard to detect.1T is good , but to expensive and too bigger then original space.
I've been thinking the same. I am hearing that dropbox is faster than onedrive, and my initial tests suggest this is true, but for the sort of things I need £80 a year is ten times what it is worth.
I'd pay £10 or £12 a year, but £80 a year is way beyond what I want to spend.
As has been said smaller plans were trialled and didnt work.
If thats what you want to spend use another service, unfortunately. Thankfully thats why you have free market over choice.
Can you offer discount for users who continue to buy services?
Dropbox hasnt yet, so I wouldnt count on it.
The only discount they offer is the $99 annual subscription vs 12 x $9.99 monthly subscriptions.

They do. Hence they have a product you can purchase. They, however, set the price they want which is €99per year. You dont have to pay that, however. Its up to you.

My reasonable price is less than $2.99/m for 2TB, only with this price that I will decide to pay. For me, dropbox is just like an external hard disk use to backup data. Although it has share function, but you can always find an alternative method to share your data. So the sharing function can be ignored. And some extra "awesome" funcstions are even useless to many users. I can buy an 2TB external hardisk around $100 and use them for many years. Even more, the 2TB is not an extra storage, it will also use your computer storage.
So, I will consider dropbox is an external hard disk which can use for 3 years. So, three years to pay $2.99*12*3=$107.64 for a 2TB storage is very reasonable.
I think most of the users want dropbox as an backup space. So you should offer a basic plan at $2.99/m just include basic function. If you really want to charge higher price, please charge those who want external service (e.g. large volume sharing, extra security, etc). I am sure many of user will pay for that and will definitely increase your revenue.

For a hard drive that does nothing. Yes. But you've totally and utterly missed the fact that your hard drive is a) in one place or b) has to be carried around. Dropbox doesnt.

Dropbox is NOT a backup tool - its AWFUL at backups. Dont use it for that. Dont try and force it to do things its not designed or implemented to do or you'll regret it.
First time here, but I have been using DB for about 3 years now. I have my phones/tablet set to auto upload (Drop-Sync Pro) my images etc. off each device at night time. I have really loved DB. BUT .... Apparently, TWO YEARS ago (like I can remember that), I got 48GB of space because I purchased a Samsung Phone. I just got an email didn't I? Telling me that I am about to lose that space unless if pay AUD $139/year for DB Pro!! I am utterly disappointed in this as I have got my mum and friends on the DB cause I love it. Now I am 22.7 GB's over what will be my new limit. I am sorry but as a Single working mum, that premium is far too high for this service. So, I feel I will have no choice but to leave DB and find a suitable alternative. $99US is not too bad but with the Australian Dollar and all, it is too prohibitive for me. In fact .... I have a Microsoft Office 365 Account which I pay a yearly subscription for and that is HEAPS cheaper than a yearly subscription for DBPro!!!
Edited to add: I have just done some online searching for alternatives to DB and am looking at iDrive Personal Pro. $60/year (1TB) to do everything that DB does and more, to me, is a more affordable option. Unless DB want to remain competitive and offer the same deal for the same price? Balls in your court DB. I would prefer to stay with you but not for $139/Year.2nd Edit: (sorry). Too many reviews are scathing of iDrive, but to my utter delight I have just realised that I purchase an Office 365 Subscription each year for me and my school aged children. We get the MS Pro suite of products for 5 persons per year PLUS because I have a 365 Subscription I also get 1TB storage automatically!! Yeah baby! That costs me AUD $119/year. More bang for my buck!

With Google now offering 2TB for $9.99 a month - I think DB's days are numbered if they are so stubborn not to reduce prices.
Even the 100GB offering is so cheap now it's pennies.
My issue is that I can only link 3 devices with the free plan. I'd like to pay for more linkable devices, but 1TB plan is just a waste for me. I usually backup large files in a harddrive and use about 10GB dropbox space. That's why I started to search alternatives, and the available options look much more cheaper.
I believe it'd be much better if Dropbox could have some cheaper plan (~$50/year), or could customize the features and space.
