I am running out of space with my 1TB drive. Is there an option to get 2TB? I know about Dropbox for business, with 5 Tb, but the price is just not compatible with my needs. It is too big a jump from 1Tb price to minimum of 5 users at $ 15 each.
Dropbox Professional plans will now have 2TB of storage space.

Best bet would be to ask support directly.

Me too, I would also need a 2TB option. If I could subscribe to two separate 1TB accounts to combine them, I would do it in a heartbeat, but it seems that it is not possible.

You can buy Jolicloud Pro service (5$/month)(www.jolicloud.com) and configure two or more Dropbox accounts in the same interface. Free option doesn't let configure more than one account from same service, but you could consider combine with a Google Drive 1Tb for 9,99$.
For two instances of Dropbox running in the same computer, it's possible and you can find info in google.
I hope this help you and sorry for my bad english.
Folks, I know this has probably been asked to death - but.
I need more space. 5TB is too much (and too expensive - I had it for a good 6 months).
1TB isn't enough any more. Are there any plans to come up with an "intermediate" option? Surely there must be a market for a 2TB Dropbox option?Nowadays, with file sizes of ISO's, video files etc. getting bigger & bigger, 2TB isn't an unrealistic request, is it?
I have no idea if I'm honest, however I know that when they launched the 1TB service there was a 2TB and 5TB option (which was based on 200gb and 500gb), however it isnt possible to buy them now.
Dropbox have always said if you want more than 1TB you need to move to business
Yeah... That's the problem. I'm willing to pay double for 2TB, but the price of Business is too much. Especially since I really don't need 5TB of storage...
Contacting them directly will yield better results than this forum. I've heard of people being allowed to upgrade higher than 1TB with a custom billing plan, but I'm not sure if it's allowed anymore.
Do you really need all 1TB+ of your data to be stored in Dropbox, though? Is there some old data that can be archived elsewhere?
Hi there, same problem here: I'm desperately looking for an extension of my storage to 2TB. Please implement this feature, Dropbox - otherweise you leave us no choice but to move to competitors such as Sync.com (2TB at $98)!
I totally agree. I can't see how there is such a thing as a one person 1T "PRO" and then off it goes into 5 person all you can eat business. So do I wait until I hire four more people?
Hi all
Thanks for your feedback here. Peter has hit the nail - we currently do not offer something between 'individual Pro' and Business 'starting point' (which is a min. of 5 seats).
I'm passing this on internally to the team. In the meanwhile an alternative would be to use 2 Pro accounts (not ideal, I know).
Ed, if I could set up 2 Dropboxes linked - I would. But I can only sync one at a time?
The way I use my Dropbox is as a redirect for my Windows user profile folders; so my My Documents, My Pictures etc. all point to the same folders in Dropbox, so that across my Windows devices, I have a 100% synced set of data - that wouldn't work with 2 Dropboxes!
As we have all said, we'd pay double the price for double the storage - if it was a single Dropbox Pro! :-)
If necessary I would even be willing to pay TRIPLE for double the storage, but not septuple for Dropbox for Business!
Exactly the same issue here. I would happily pay for each Tb but have no need for business package. This is a crazy business decision for them. Trouble is I need it now, so the alternative is to move away, which I don't want to do.
Come on Dropbox, listen to your users!
Hi Mark, I had the same issue and moved to Sync.com a week ago - and so far, I couldn't be happier! 2TB of storage, end-to-end-encryption, a Dropbox-like "feel" and all that at just $98!
I have sang Dropbox praises for years - told and sold so many people on it. Dropbox is the defacto standard for cloud storage! No system I've tried works better. (I even continue to pay Dropbox for 1Tb storage when I have 1Tb FREE with Microsoft OneDrive - because MS just couldn't work with all my data, syncs were a mess, conflicts everywhere, extra layers of "uploader services," etc.) WHY does a single power user with years (every year we make more data) of home, work & academic data somehow have to buy a "business" plan with multiple seats? You have customers willing to send you more money for more space - without the bells and whistles of the business plan. I'm sorry, but you are forcing me to look for another solution. This is just bad business, and sad for a loyal customer, Dropbox.
Considering that physical storage media seems to double itself each year, I really don't understand why Dropbox doesn't evolve the same way. 1TB hard drives are becoming cheaper and cheaper as every year goes by.
As 4K/8K media rolls its way onto the internet, there will be an inherent need for additional storage, that's just all there is to it. It's really not a question of IF it will happen, but when.
As a Pro user, I would love nothing more than to wake up and find an extra TB tacked onto my account at no extra cost. For as much as the Pro user pays, and the fact that their competitors are offering more space for the same price, this kind of treatment is way overdue.
They may have changed their pricing since, but IDrive has offered 2TB for less than 5$/month. At that rate we're paying double for half as much, just because Dropbox is brand name.
Ditto! I would cancel my 1TB Google Drive subscription if I could have just 1 more terabyte with dropbox!
Kudos
I cant reach a live person no matter how hard I try....So can I get an official dropbox support agent to please answer my question? here it is -
Is there ANY plans in the future to add a 2TB option? If so, when?
I need more space asap. 1TB is all filled up. Im not a business and therefore dont need a business account at 75 dollars per month....Thats a waste of money for me. I dont have moneey to waste. As a regular everyday guy, I just need a 2tb upgrade option. Is this so hard to implement? Please advise.
Dropbox do not release roadmaps I'm afraid. You won't get a live person unless you are a Business user.
All you can do is post an email to www.dropbox.com/support
Dropbox had a larger plan and discontinued it, so I wouldnt expect a 2TB plan any time soon.
I also need more than 1tb. Let's see who is the first company who offers that
I contacted dropbox support before making this post a wekk or so ago and have heard NOTHING back...
And as far as a different company offering 2GB storage, MEGA.NZ does! The problem I found with them is the payment options suck! The only 2 available is a bank transfer to their bank in GERMANY.....Or bitcoin.
Both of those options suck....I emailed them and told them they need better payment options like PAYPAL....Mega.nz support emailed this response to me -
-----------------------------------
"Dear Joe, Thank you for your support and thank you for using MEGA!PayPal has ceased processing MEGA customer payments effective immediately at the end of February 2015. MEGA is aware of a report published by NetNames (partially funded from the MPAA supported Digital Citizens Alliance) that incorrectly claims MEGA's business to not be a legitimate cloud storage service. MEGA is aware that Senator Leahy (Vermont, Chair Senate Judiciary Committee) then pressured Visa and MasterCard to cease providing payment services to the companies named in that report. Visa and MasterCard then pressured PayPal to cease providing payment services to MEGA.Mega has published an independent report which refutes claims that the site is a piracy haven. The analysis, carried out by Olswang, an international law firm that previously worked with the UK government on copyright issues, concludes that claims in a 2014 NetNames report have “no factual basis whatsoever.” For all information please read here: https://mega.nz/#blog_34"
Good ol' american government.....Pushing businesses around and trying to control everything....Upsetting to say the least,eh? But I digress...
I might go ahead do the bitcoin or transfer anyway though because I REALLY REALLY REALLY need more space. 1gb is not enough and I am not paying 75/month - I dont need 5 licenses, dropbox!!!!!!
Too bad...If anyone finds a different company that offers paypal as an option to buy a 2gb or 5gb space, please post it here so we can all see it! Or just msg me!
And for anyone wondering, Mega.nz is a great service. They give you 50gb for a free account! So, ya I may go over there, soon......Dropbox and others like googlesync, etc. - just do what they want cause their rich, they dont care about you and me.....Thats evident. Typical American company...GreedGreedGreed....
Thanks for the info. I have been thinking also about Mega but the 2tb option is 199$/year. I think that's a bit expensive. I guess it's just a matter of time when all companyies will offer a 2tb option. But I have read really good reviews about Mega
Apple iCloud just raised it to 2TB!
R
need 2TB as well, videos take a lot of space... there was a time when dropbox went ahead of our needs, now is falling behind
I Very very need for 2T option. If dropbox update 1T to 2T for standard then i will purchase it.
I really like Dropbbox and have been loyal for years. I need 2TB now and there is an icloud upgrade button at a reasonable price - albeit with fewer features - on my iphone....
Same here - if Dropbox doesn't offer more storage before New Years I don't think I will renew my license. It's time for 2TB instead of 1TB.
Not quite there yet, but when I'm out of space I will look for alternatives (the business model just doesn't cut it for personal use).
