Ive linked my account to the headset but none of my files are showing even though they are supported file types. i asked oculus and was told to ask here because they said it wasnt an issue with the headset but with the service.
Mods can go ahead and delete/lock this thread...i found a workaround for it...problem was i dont have (and dont plan to have) a PC so i couldnt just plug it in and transfer but i just used my xbox to upload from the external drive the videos where on, downloaded them on to my tablet from there, reformatted them, then uploaded to google from tablet and downloaded them on to the headset from there...took a bit of time but it works
I have the same Problem. First it worked, now it can´t find any media. But same Problem with google photos. Perhaps it´s an oculus failure.
Thanks for posting about this @Carnage15987.
In general, a VR machine or desktop is not the best environment for Dropbox.
I found this discussion in the Community regarding O.
:dividers: How can I use Dropbox to transfer files to Oculus Go?
Setting up the Dropbox app on a virtual machine or desktop or sync virtual machine program files could work however, we cannot really indicate whether it would work fully as expected, considering each third party VR software, may have unexpected configurations.
Hope this clarifies things. Feel free to ask more questions!
Thank you all for reporting this difficulty you are facing with the third party app.
@Carnage15987 Special thanks for providing your workaround to help others.
Unfortunately I don't have much to offer to help with this, as it was always questionable if Dropbox can operate on VR environments and not recommended.
I hope this discussion can continue, though so I will not accept the workaround as a solution for now. I hope you can find more workarounds to accomplish this sync.
If you get information from the third party side of things, feel free to add it to this thread.
Wish I could be more helpful. Thank you all for your participation!
Yes me too i have the same problem. It appeared after the last Oculus Quest Update V12.So it is an Oculus Problem and there are People already posting in the Oculus comunity support section. I hope Oculus will see it and can fix it soon, because Dropbox is one of the few ways to easily transfer files..(in my case 3D stereoscopic Pictures and Videos) to this device and into the Oculus Gallery.
Thanks for the heads up @JohannesMeyer.
So new to the Community, but so helpful already! Welcome.
If you get more updates from the third party side of things keep us posted.
Thanks again!
Same problem for me and a friend on the Oculus Go.
I don't think that not using Dropbox to put files onto your Oculus should be considered a workaround. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. A real workaround would be to get the files to appear in Dropbox.
This is not a solution to the Oculus Gallery' sudden inability to read image files from dropbox. I as well contacted support, who blamed dropbox. I then made a new drop box account (same problem) and gave my friend my log in info and the same problem showed for him. Folders show but no files. He then told me his dropbox to gallery was broken a wek or two ago as well, but he thought it was just him. I wonder if anybody from oculus reads the forum?
Copying files manually to your Oculus is not a real workaround. It's an abandoning of Dropbox.
Thank you so much for posting about this @NugentMarc!
So helpful. Happy to have you in our Community.
Cheers.
Any ideas for ios?
Hi @CallumDoesStuff!
Thanks for posting about this.
I moved the topic you created in this discussion, because we have several helpful users offering workarounds for this third party app. You can even write back to them asking for clarifications.
As this thread explains, currently there is no way for Oculus and Dropbox to directly synchronize and it is not recommended, but I am confident this thread you will find a workaround to manually export and finally import your videos to Dropbox.
Please get back to our Community with any feedback or questions.
Thank you. Have a nice week!
Yeah it's really odd that this is a "built-in" option in the quest but it doesn't work. I would like to know if this is supported officially by drop Box.
It was working fine for month..and then Oculus Update 12 came and they broke something in the code. They where too quick for the preChristmas updates and didnt make proper tests to avoid those kind of problems i think. Hopefully it gets fixed with the next update. Just sad that they dont push little patches to fix those obvious and annoying errors. However....opening Dropbox from the Oculus browser works fine too.
Also, this thread is showing as solved. The problem hasn't been "solved". I would suggest that it should be left open, especially if mods are copying further threads into it. Otherwise it is a little misleading.
Thank you for your feedback @CannarWilm.
You will find threads in the Community where the solution accepted is a workaround from users to users. Unfortunately, the way things operate at the time there is no actual solution for Oculus files on our end.
I hope the workaround in this discussion can be a solution for you.
@JohannesMeyer thank you for adding updates to this topic! 🙏
Cheers!
