Can't open any files

Can't open any files in Dropbox inc PDF file, word, excel. A window popped up and said' There was an error opening this document. The file cannot be accessed by the system.

But all the files can be reviewed and downloaded from online login.

How to fix them up?

Thanks for getting back to me, @Miranda-info.

Are the files in your Dropbox folder set to online-only by any chance?

If they are, can you try right-clicking on a file and select it to be local from the Smart Sync option? Are you able to open it then?

From what I understand, you're trying to access these files locally on your computer. Could you clarify for me:

What you see when you hover over your Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock? A screenshot of this (without any personal info) would be very helpful.
If you're trying to open them from the desktop app or Finder/Windows Explorer?
