Problem with Windows Explorer when deleting files in Dropbox subfolders

I have used Dropbox for many years with no problem.  Recently, I have had the following problem on my PC.  If I try to delete a file in a Dropboc subflder with WIndows Explorer, it hangs, reporting "Preparing to recycle from Dropbox".   WIndows Explorer deletes files in the normal way if they are NOT ina Dropbiox folder.  In addition, I can delete files in the Dropbox folders using say Photos or Powershell.  SOme other functions in Windows Explorer do not wrk in Dropbox fodlers, for example renaming files.

I see, thanks for the additional details there @David E.59. Does the issue persist when you quit (completely close) the Dropbox desktop app on your computer?

Thanks.  I am running Windows 11 Home version 25H2 OS build 26200.9711.  Dropbox version is  276.4.5266.  The files are a mixture. S ome online only, others are offline.  I have restarted the PC and reinstalled Dropbox without effect.

Hi there @David E.59 - thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Can you please clarify your computer's exact OS version and the version/status of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your system tray?

Are the files you're trying to delete online-only files or available offline on your computer?

If you still get the same results after rebooting your computer and quitting and relaunching the app, you can try reinstalling the app as well.
