"This folder is hidden from your device."; I can't see some of my folders on the desktop app

A bunch of my files and folders are invisible on my desktop computer, but they're still accessible if if go to the Dropbox website, where I get the message: "this folder is hidden from your device." None of these files or folders are "Teams" or anything like that. They're just mine, and now I can't access them from one of my desktops. I don't recall ever hiding them. How do I UNHIDE things? And how do I turn off this awful feature so it never happens again?

Thanks for your post, @slieber.

There's a chance some of your folders have been selectively synced on the specific device.

What I want you to do is open your desktop app preferences and follow these steps. If your missing folders appear not checked in the selective sync list, you can select them again and wait till they sync to your computer.

If that’s not the case for you though, please let me know and we’ll look into this further.

Had this same problem and wanted to share context to hopefully help other people. I'm using Chrome and in a recent update they split local access and apps on device permissions.

I was able to get this button back by enabling "Apps on device" that was disabled by default.

Check your site settings for dropbox.com here
