A folder I added to my Dropbox account shows up online, but not in File Explorer.

I am trying to add a new folder to Dropbox. It shows up in Dropbox when I log in, but it doesn't appear in File Explorer. The rest of my Dropbox folders are available

What does Dropbox say if you mouse over its icon on your status bar?

The Dropbox icon doesn't show up on my status bar either.

Can you check if the Dropbox icon is hidden? If it's not hidden and it's just disappeared, please reinstall the Dropbox app from this link (without uninstalling it first).

Dropbox is almost certainly not running then - hence no syncing. :)

Try and restart it or reinstall from www.dropbox.com/downloading.

I did reinstall it from the link, and there was an icon while it was reinstalling, but when it completed the icon disappeared. When I click on the Windows start icon, the Dropbox icon is there, but I can't drag and drop it to the task bar. I tried to "pin it to Quick Access" but that didn't work either.

Did you make sure the icon is not hidden?

If it's not hidden and simply reinstalling the app didn't help, I'd suggest uninstalling it, restarting the computer and then reinstalling once again.

I have a lot of folders in Dropbox - if I uninstall, will they be deleted?

HI @Nina C.3, if you uninstall the Dropbox desktop application, nothing will happen to your local Dropbox folder as it is in a different location, only the app itself would be removed.

Let us know if your files begin to sync after reinstalling the desktop app!

Thanks to Mark, Hannah and Jay — apparently the Dropbox didn't get fully installed from way back when Mark suggested to re-install. So it finished, and I got a pop-up that said Dropbox was not syncing because I was out of storage (I thought the File Explorer storage count was Dropbox). I deleted and moved a lot and voila! it appears to be syncing.
