Hello,
Our entire team has been experiencing an issue with the Dropbox and Adobe Acrobat integration on Android for approximately one week.
We store PDF forms in Dropbox and edit them through the Adobe Acrobat mobile app. This workflow has worked correctly for several years, but recently, edits made in Acrobat have stopped saving and syncing back to the original Dropbox files.
Previous working process:
- Open Dropbox on an Android phone.
- Open a PDF stored in Dropbox.
- Select the option to edit it in Adobe Acrobat.
- Make the required changes.
- Tap the back arrow in the top-left corner of Acrobat.
- Acrobat saves the changes and returns to Dropbox.
- A small confirmation message appears to confirm that the edits were saved.
Current behaviour:
- After making edits and tapping the back arrow, the file remains open in Adobe Acrobat instead of returning to Dropbox.
- The confirmation message stating that the edits were saved no longer appears.
- The changes are not saved to the original PDF in Dropbox.
- No updated version is synced back to Dropbox.
We have also tested the alternative workflow:
- Open Adobe Acrobat directly.
- Connect to Dropbox from within Acrobat.
- Open the PDF from Dropbox.
- Edit the PDF.
- Tap the back arrow.
The edits still do not save or sync back to Dropbox.
Troubleshooting already completed:
- Updated both Dropbox and Adobe Acrobat to the latest versions.
- Reinstalled both applications.
- Removed and reconnected the Dropbox account in Acrobat.
- Tested different PDF files.
- Tested different Wi-Fi and mobile networks.
- Confirmed that the files are being edited while online.
- Tested on multiple Android phones.
- Confirmed that the issue affects team members in different countries and on different networks.
Dropbox Support confirmed that opening the PDF from Dropbox, editing it in Acrobat and tapping the back arrow should save the changes back to Dropbox. However, this process is no longer working.
This appears to be an integration or application update issue rather than an individual device, file, account or network problem.
Has anyone else recently experienced this issue? Could Dropbox please investigate whether there has been a change or fault in the Android integration with Adobe Acrobat?
We need the edited PDF to save directly over the original Dropbox file, as it did previously, rather than requiring users to create and manually upload a separate copy.
