Feedback on how file storage is displayed and issues after moving to the File Provider update

Question

Apple's File Provider API changed how Dropbox displays storage. It shows logical file size instead of local disk usage. This update makes it hard to see if files take up actual space on your Mac. I hate everything about Dropbox since it moved locations within the Apple/Mac system and I wish they would fix all of the sync issues. It has created so much extra work for me. I tried opting out of the integration but it was too complicated and ultimately I'm sure they'll make it so you can't opt out so might as well just deal with it. Is there any way for Dropbox to fix all of these issues?

* "unable to remove download" - this happens after right-clicking and selecting "Make online only" but only with certain files. not all files do this.

2. cloud/check mark icons not present on certain files for no reason. are they online? are they offline? no clue:

3. sync status of files - correct. the files used to show accurate progress status as they were being downloaded, now they just stay with the cloud logo until every single file that i've chosen to make available offline/online are finished and then they all switch at once.

4. literally everything about dropbox is slower. the syncing is MUCH slower, the entire app feels like it took 100 steps back.

5. regarding conflicted copies - i already read that when i reached out to dropbox for support like 6 months ago. no one else is using my account, or has the same file open or is editing the same file. it's just me. always. and again, none of these issues happened before the Apple integration.

This is the end of my responses as I cannot waste anymore time in my day complaining about these issues to Dropbox and seeing no results.

Hi from me too, @resynator. Regarding the sync status of your files, you mean that you no longer see a dedicated icon indicating that they’re in the process of syncing/switching from online-only to offline (and vice versa), correct?

As for the files with no icon that you mention, have you checked this section of our Help Center article?

When saying that the Dropbox app is slower, can you specify what happens exactly? Is it slower while syncing, or when navigating files in the Dropbox folder?

Now, when it comes to conflicted copies, have you already read this? Is there anything in this article that could be explaining the issue that you're experiencing?
