I am experiencing a new problem with the Dropbox web image viewer that did not occur previously.

I use Dropbox to review and share large numbers of photography images. When I open a folder and click on the first image, it displays correctly using “Fit to page” at approximately 17% zoom. However, when I advance to the next image using either the right arrow on screen or the keyboard arrow key, the image immediately resets to 100% zoom.

Every image after the first one opens at full size, requiring me to manually select “Fit to page” for each individual image. This makes reviewing a large gallery extremely inefficient.

Troubleshooting performed:

Tested in both Safari and Google Chrome.
Cleared Dropbox website data/cache.
Created a brand-new Dropbox folder with different images; the problem still occurs.
Confirmed the issue is not limited to a specific folder or set of images.

System information:

macOS: Tahoe
Browser: Safari and Chrome
Dropbox account: Basic

This problem appears to be a recent change or bug in the Dropbox image viewer because the workflow previously worked correctly.

Can Dropbox confirm whether this is a known issue and whether a fix or workaround is available?

Until a few days ago, the Dropbox web image viewer always opened images using "Fit to Page." Now every image opens at 100% zoom by default.

I'm using Google Chrome on Windows, and I haven't changed any browser settings. The behavior started suddenly.

As a photographer, I often review hundreds of images, and having to manually change the zoom for every image significantly slows my workflow.

Is anyone else experiencing this? If this is an intentional change, please consider restoring the previous behavior or adding a user preference to choose between "Fit to Page" and "100%."

I should have mentioned that I did try both before posting. Same result in Chrome as in Edge. Also tried incognito mode. Same. I have cleared my cache.

I too am experiencing the same problem as posted by argonne1918. That is, images automatically setting themselves to 100% instead of remaining on fit to page. These are my details;

Computer – Mac, using, as of last night, Tahoe

Safari – subscription dropbox

Chrome – non-sub subscription dropbox

The problem occurs across both dropboxes

The problem has occurred in the last 24 – 36 hours

Since approx 2007 I share links to folders with:

Editors

Printers

Clients

I do not sync with other devices

I have to make a presentation at 5:45 pm tomorrow – that is just over 24 hours away and am hoping the problem will be resolved by that time..

Is there any update on this? Everyone on my team is experiencing the same issue. This has made viewing photos for dropbox basically useless.

Having this issue too and it's making my job a living ******. Why do they even bother making these updates every time I'm tempted to jump ship. One of these days I'm going to migrate to Google Drive. Whyyyyy?

Dear Dropbox Community Manager, Sorry about the following complaint, but I am feeling stressed.

10.00 this morning Australian East Coast time, I attempted to make a presentation to a Music Festival Director. 4 photographers [myself and a team of 3] documented this 10 day event resulting in a huge amount of data, all renamed, resized and placed in specific folders. All uploaded to DB and shared. The situation mentioned above made viewing on DB impossible. DB on the Director’s computer [another Mac] experienced the same problem. Being worried that this may happen, I had brought an external drive with me [with the data on it] and showed the work on my laptop using Photo Mechanic. Totally frustrating and the client is left with numerous folders of an entire Festival he absolutely cannot view on DB. I realise your staff are working on this problem, and I thank you for that, but I just want to stress how urgent the situation is becoming. Thank you for your time.

This is so ANNOYING. I sent a Dropbox link to a customer and they have to reset viewing size for EVERY photo. Please fix this! You have made my Dropbox useless.
