Search isn't working properly

I recently bought a new Windows 11 laptop. I installed Dropbox and all of my files are there and sync with no problem. But when I try to search for a file using a keyword, the only ones that show up are files that I have already opened on the new computer. If I've not yet opened the file, it won't show up in my search. If I open the file and then close it, it shows up in the search without a problem.

Just to clarify, does this happen with online-only files or files that are available offline on your computer?

Also, what is the exact version and status of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your taskbar?

Any additional information or even screenshots are more than welcome!

It happens with files that are available offline.

Can you send us a couple of screenshots showing this behavior so that we can have a visual too?

When I attempt to put screen shots in the chat box, I get a "Permission Problem" error.

Same issue. Light red box that says Permission Problem.

The only thing the screenshot shows is the files that pull up when I use a term that is in a number of my files. When I first search for the term, four files pull up. After going to Dropbox and opening one of the files that contains the term but did not show up in search, that file shows up in the search box. That's what's in the second screen shots, five files pulling up instead of four.

I tried sharing a screen shot with the permission problem error. Same results.

Hey @ssparker7, no worries!

Can you check if you have this issue with files in other locations as well, not just the ones in your Dropbox folder?

Also, if you quit the Dropbox app, does the issue persist with the app closed?
