Question or Issue Android app crashing on s25ultra. Phone sent a message saying this and to put it in deep sleep. The dropbox app has not been working well with word
Hi @dluptonmd, and thanks for posting here today.
If you’re not on a free Basic account with more than 3 devices currently linked, please try to reinstall your Dropbox app as the next step.
If the issue persists after that, I’d like a screenshot of the error message you keep seeing. I’d also like to know the current app version of your Dropbox app (you can double check this via your Play Store and update it, if need be).
Other than that, can you clarify what's the issue you’re having with Word and the Dropbox app?
Keep me posted for more updates.
I am on a basic free account and have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times.
As for the issue, the file, any file, will not open in word, often. I just get a blank page. Also, every time I go to open a file, I am asked how I would like to open the file-- just once or always with word or copilot. I select word always but the next time I go to open the same file, when the app is working, I am asked the same question. I want word to open all my files always and I had no problems before.
I can't see what version of dropbox I have but in manage apps in playstore it says UPDATED YESTERDAY.
I sent an answer and screenshot.
Hey @dluptonmd, let me jump in here!
I'd like for us to try one more thing. Can you please clear the Dropbox mobile app's cache and let us know if this persists? To do this:
1. Tap the Dropbox app icon on your Android device.2. Tap Account (person icon or initials) at the bottom.3. Tap Settings (gear icon).4. Tap Clear cache at the bottom.Once you’ve cleared the cache, log out of the Dropbox app, restart your device, then log back in.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please let us know so I can troubleshoot further. Thanks!
Hey @dluptonmd!
A quick follow-up to our last message! Let us know if you still need assistance or if everything is working as expected.
It's working but still getting messages saying the app is running and put it into deep sleep when It's not open in my open apps drawer.
Does this persist after clearing the app's cache and/or completely uninstalling and reinstalling the Dropbox mobile app on your phone @dluptonmd?
please read the chain. I've reinstalled dropbox and word multiple times and cleared cache and force stopped.
Hi again, @dluptonmd! So, to clarify, your Dropbox app is no longer crashing on Android, but you’re still getting those notifications. Is this correct?
Can you please confirm whether you’ve restarted your device in the meantime?
If you have, I’d like to know the OS version of your Android phone next, as well as the current app version of your Dropbox mobile app (which you can find by going to your Account tab > gear icon and scrolling all the way to the bottom).
