I keep seeing an unwanted desktop app notification about being over-quota. How can I make it stop?

Every single day, the Dropbox app has started popping up a notification that my Dropbox is full and wants me to upgrade. I am well aware that my Dropbox is full, and I have no intention of ever upgrading.

Please make this popup stop.

While you can't dismiss this notification for ever as long as you're over quota, you should be able to click on the 'remind me later' option to close it temporarily and/or even free up some space to avoid getting it in the first place.

I know it's not much, but I hope this helps.

Yes, I click on remind me later, but the popup annoyingly shows up every single day.

I would love to free up space, but unfortunately all my space is filled not by files I stored but by files other people shared to me. It is unfortunate that those files take up space in my account. It seems to me that instead of storing the files, Dropbox could just store a link to where they were originally shared from which would take a lot less space.

In this case, since the files that take up space on your account are shared, you could ask the original owner to share a view-only link to them instead of a shared folder (which take up space on all members of the share).

That said, I've just sent you an email to see what we can do internally, so please take a look at your inbox and we'll take it from there.

Unfortunately, I have no contact with the people who shared the folders to me.

Would be nice if Dropbox allowed me to convert a given link from a full access link to a view only link. This would not affect the sender negatively in any way.
