How can I move my Dropbox folder to another hard drive?

I need to move Dropbox from my C to my D Drive because my C Drive is running out of space. I looked up the instructions on the Help pages, but they are absolutely worthless. They say that I need to click on my initials or avatar after opening up Dropbox on my computer, but I looked in the lower left corner and there are no initials and no avatar. This is like the primary step, and since it's inaccurate and/or doesn't apply to my setup, the rest of the directions are useless. So how do I accomplish this?

My problem has been solved. The problem was that there was no useable Dropbox icon in the system tray at all--just a link to the Win Explore Dropbox folder. My solution was to completely uninstall Dropbox and then re-install from scratch. Voila, there is a different Dropbox icon in the sys tray. Now I can click on it and get a small settings window that enables me to move Dropbox to another drive.

What do you see when you click the Dropbox icon in the system tray near the clock?

Do you see an avatar or your initials anywhere there?

Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!

I have exactly the same problem The Dropbox icon in the system tray is just a link to a Win 11 Explorer page featuring the Dropbox directory. There is no avatar, no initials. The only place such things appear is on Dropbox.com. When I clicked on the the initials on Dropbox.com there were no instructions germane to moving the Dropbox directory to another drive. Please help us.

Make sure you're clicking the correct icon. It's the one in your system tray, not your task bar.

If you single-click this icon, you'll get the Dropbox menu. If you double-click, it will open the Dropbox folder in Explorer.

To get to the option for moving the Dropbox folder, single-click that icon, then in the window that appears you'll see your initials or avatar in the bottom-left corner.

Click that, select Preferences, then the Sync tab, and you'll find the option to change the Dropbox location at the bottom of the window.

So, this is what I see. There is no DropBox icon, even when I open via that little expansion arrow. If I click on my Dropbox Icon on my desktop, or open it via what passes for the start menu these days, I just open a Windows Explorer Window that has no Icons or Initials. I have the same issue Muley has.

Scheiss. I just realized what the problem is. I rolled over every Icon, thinking the DropBox might be hidden somewhere...and it was! Not sure whose brilliant idea it was that if you have notifications then your DP Icon changes from Blue to Grey, and you get a large red box that effectively obscures the icon so it doesn't look anything like it should...but there it was. Let's see if I can get it done now.

Theresa, I have actually now left Dropbox for two reasons. The first is the high cost relative to a Canadian service. The second is that because my data was being stored in the U.S., I had concerns about the integrity of Dropbox security. Sorry. Best wishes.
