I've downloaded the latest Software version for Mac Os. I Install, and try to open from apps and then menu bar. Dropbox does not respond then closes. Tried a complete uninstall reinstall and same thing. Any solutions?
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @Shelski.
Did you manage to sign in to the app at all, or is it not even allowing you to do that?
Can you try a more advanced reinstall, to see if that helps?
Keep me posted!
Can't sign in, doesnt go to dropbox web at all. Just this when I try to open rom the menu bar or app folder:
I'll try the advanced install
Thanks, @Shelski, let me know how it goes!
No Luck with the Advanced Install. Any other suggestions?
I appreciate the update, @Shelski.
Just as a test, would you mind trying our offline installer, to see if that makes any difference?
Ok, I tried this and still have no function of the installed Dropbox app or menu icon. No change.
Hmm, thanks for trying, @Shelski.
Can you also check if giving Dropbox full disk access makes any difference?
Can't do that right now, dropbox is in a loop opening my brower every 5 seconds on its own to this address:
address.https://www.dropbox.com/cli_link_nonce?nonce=1ac3a824e5a3589ee64129321d0482bf
I need you to tell me how to uninstall. I cant use my computer like this unless I disconnect my internet. A real mess.
I’ve tried all of the above. Not working. Now when I click the app, it loops opening the Dropbox site on my default browser indefinitely until I close the program. Is Dropbox compatible with Mac 15.2 sequoia?
Hey @Shelski, it should be compatible, yes.
You can try to uninstall using these steps. If you come across any issues while doing that, let me know.
Also, you mentioned that you can't access our website either. Is there a possibility that a proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router issues that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?
To be Clear:
I am on a mac Version 15.02
I uninstalled as recommended on the website for mac uninstall
I reinstalled this download. "Dropbox 214.4.5217.dmg"
Upon open, the dropbox app repeatedly opens the dropbox website in 5 second intervals to install drop box on the mac. Then when I try to install, the app says it is no longer open. The loop of events goes on infinetly.
I try to turn off System Settings>General>Login items & extensions, and dropbox turns it back on by its self.
Hey @Shelski. As a test, can you try to install a previous version of the Dropbox app instead and let me know if you face the same behavior/message?
I tried, still not able to load the dropbox application
Thanks for clarifying that for us @Shelski - as a last step before we take this to email, could you maybe try creating a new OS profile and let us know if you were able to install the Dropbox desktop app normally?
I created a new user profile and got the exact behavior. I click on the dropbox icon in the menu bar, it disapears. Next, I open the app in applications and I get a pop up saying - The application “Dropbox” is not open anymore. Then the Icon reappears in the menu bar, and disapears with any mouse movement.
Further, if this helps:
I started work on the computer and this popup appeared. I granted permission, but no change
This is the popup I get when I right click the icon ibn the menu bar.
Left click does nothing. After a few seconds, the icon disappears from the menu bar.
Hi @Shelski, is this a personal machine or a company-managed device?
Have you made any changes to your default browser on your machine? As my colleague asked earlier, have you got any special VPN, proxy or firewalls running?
Personal Machine. I use Chrome as default browser, but when I created a new profile I kept everything as is, no other installs and Safai as default browser.
No special VPN, proxy or firewalls.
Could you try performing an advanced reinstallation again, and this time use the offline installer on this page?
I've done all suggestions and connot get dropbox to work on 15.2 Sequoia. Can this be escalated, or is it not compatible?
Sure thing @Shelski.
I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this. I'll see you there, thanks!
Thanks
Please let us know how it goes, I'm cautious to upgrade to Sequioa. I hope it gets sorted for you soon!
Hello, I installed Sequoia 15.2 yesterday and had precisely the same problem.
I did all the steps suggested above, and it doesn't work.
Would you happen to have another solution?
Hey @Nikolay Kirov, sorry to hear about that!
Just to confirm: did you also try an advanced reinstall using these steps?
If you tried it with no results, then I'd be more than happy to send you an email in order for us to have a closer look into this.
Let me know!
I uninstalled Dropbox entirely as instructed.
Then I reinstalled it.
Dropbox forced the creation of a new folder for documents.
Then synchronized some of the documents and stopped.
Restarting the computer would restart the synchronization process. I did it twice.
At one point, it looked like it had lost access to the network.
A computer restart caused Dropbox NOT to turn on again.
When I checked System Settings>General>Login items & extensions, Dropbox was turned on, but it didn't work.
Any other Ideas?
Hi @Nikolay Kirov, thanks for the info, in order to look into this matter in more detail, I'd recommend contacting the support team directly for them to investigate further.
