Xmind always a conflict copy

Hello,

I use Xmind. I use Dropbox to save my Xmind files so that I can work on them in both my Windows 11 desktop and my iPad Pro. When I save an Xmind file from my Windows 11 desktop, it appears as a conflict copy. I work on the files alone -- there is no collaboration; therefore, I am confused as to why I continually get conflicted copies. Likely the solution to this is something simple that I am missing. Regardless, I am looking to you all to help me to stop these conflicted copies from happening. Thanks much!

Did you take a look at the Help Center article I linked above, Dave?

In general, note that if you are sharing the data between devices you must NOT run the application on more than one computer at a time as this will generate file conflicts and other problems. Thus, the pattern needs to be:

1. Let files sync

2. Start application

3. Save files

4. Quit application
5. Repeat on different computers.

One workaround that can be used to prevent conflicted copies is to move the file out of the Dropbox folder while editing it. Doing this causes the file to appear as deleted and doesn't allow other users to edit the file. Once you're done editing, you can move the file back into its original location in the Dropbox folder. It will reappear with your edits for all users who have access to that file.

Hi there @DavidJ1 - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Just to make sure I got this right, are you working on the file while it's open on both of your devices at the same time?

Can you provide some additional information like the OS of your devices and the steps you take to edit your files?

I have been doing further testing of this issue since my post. The file has been saving and opening properly in both my Windows 11 Desktop and my iPad Pro. I cannot remember the original sequence of actions that I performed to create the problem. I may have inadvertently chosen Save As instead of Save in Xmind. Would that have created the conflicted copy? Can you provide further information on how to avoid conflicted copies and/or point me to a relevant support document? Thanks much!
