Hello,
How can I change which folder is used by Dropbox?
I got a new MacBook and successfully integrated everything from the old one to the new one using Migration Assistant. Everything, that is, except apparently Dropbox.
The folder "Dropbox" on the new Mac doesn't contain many of the files from the "Dropbox" folder on the old Mac. Ditto for Dropbox.com. They appear to be from the old Mac's "Dropbox (Old (1))" folder. The folder I want to use on the new Mac is now named "Dropbox (Old (2))".
On the new Mac I quit Dropbox, renamed "Dropbox" to "Dropbox no" and renamed "Dropbox (Old (2))" to "Dropbox." When I started up the Dropbox app again it took several minutes to run through the files (I forget the term shown in the Dropbox app's window) yet at the end it still had the same issue--none of the new files I wanted were in there. Did Dropbox.com override what I wanted to do with the desktop?
My problems would go away if I can get Dropbox to use the contents of the new Mac's "Dropbox (Old (2))" folder. I can't figure out how to do that since it ignored my attempt at renaming. I'd appreciate an alternative to moving folders/files one at a time.
