Noticed yesterday.
Same issue on Windows 10 and 7 machines with same account
app stuck "updating dropbox account"
Unable to sign into app
Re-install not cured it
deleting cache not cured it.
Hi @ccowap, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?
This will help me to assist further!
I have been having the same problem with my windows desktop app for almost a year now. Windows firewall is set to allow all 3, domain, private, and public communication for Dropbox.
Please help, Dropbox is so much less useful when you have to do everything through a browser.
I had to uninstall and re-unstall DB
and then completely re-sync all the files to a new folder.
DB default folder name format changed while doing that - (which was odd) out of interest.
Hey @Melissa11, sorry to you see you're having this issue.
Did you happen to try what @ccowap suggested that worked for them, to see if it helps you too?
Hi @Geoffrey F., let's jump right into this!
How long has it been like that? Normally, the app should move forward from the set-up window, and begin syncing.
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
Thanks for the update here, @Geoffrey F..
Can you please check the sync status of the app and let us know what you find?
You can see this info, by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your system tray.
Hey @Geoffrey F., I understand that this isn't ideal, but I definitely want to help you with that.
I'd suggest that you uninstall the app, and try to install it again, using the offline installer. If you end up giving this a go, let me know.
We're having same problem. Tried uninstalling and re-installing (didn't try offline installer, yet) but that didn't help.
Is there a workable fix now? My internet search hasn't yet found one.
Hey @sfmitch - since you haven't given it a go yet, could you try using the offline installer from this page directly and let us know how it goes?
Tried offline installer but still not working.
Anything else we can try?
When you say not working, are you unable to download the installer or run it @sfmitch ?
Or maybe you're running it and you still get an error upon the installation process? If it's the latter, please send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting or the last screen you can get to, so that we can have a visual too.
Yes, I was able to download the installer. Run the installer. Dropbox appears to install ok.
The little icon appears in taskbar but looks greyed out. When I click on the dropbox taskbar icon, it says it is 'updating dropbox account'. When I go to settings, it shows we are not logged in but no ability to sign in.
@sfmitch, can you send me a screenshot of what you’re currently seeing on your desktop app?
Can you also clarify what type of plan is the Dropbox account you’re trying to sign in on? Is it a Business account, or a personal one?
It's a business account
What about the screenshot Nancy asked for @sfmitch?
I thought I uploaded them already. I'll try again...
Thanks for the screenshots @sfmitch
Could you try an advanced reinstall and let us know if the issue persists?
Just make sure to remove the device from your Security page as well during that process.
I'll give that a go.
Definitely keep us on the loop @sfmitch!
nothing shows up on Security Page - this is a business account, do I need to look elsewhere?
Hey @sfmitch, no need, just try the advanced reinstall as you normally would.
That might have worked. I will check back with user tomorrow to make sure but things look promising.
No worries, we'll be waiting for your update @sfmitch! 😎
