I recently uploaded a large PPT file (225 M) that had a lot of images. Several of them do not appear. I deleted the file and tried to upload again but same thing happened. Any suggestions?

In dropbox itself. Also, I shared with a few people and they also saw the missing images.
Hey @Arrell5093, sorry to jump in here, but could you clarify if you're able to preview those missing images on your PPT file after downloading it from the website and opening it locally on your device?
The PPT is complete on my computer. When I uploaded it to Dropbox several images did not transfer. When downloaded from Dropbox, the images are missing.
Correction... when I download from Dropbox back to my laptop, the missing images show up.
How large is the PPT file and the images stored inside it @Arrell5093?
Can you send us a screenshot of how it looks on your end perhaps?
The file is 220 MB. Can you clarify what you want a screen shot of… a slide with a missing image, or something else?

I cleared the Chrome browser cache and cookies and uploaded the PPT again. Images still missing.
Then I tried Firefox, and images still missing.
Now what?

I have the same problem.
I have saved PowerPoint files for a while and only recently gone back to look for them but the images are not showing.
This screenshot shows the issue. I discovered it when repurposing the material for an internal training this morning and. embarrassingly for me, it was not there.
The version of PowerPoint is from Office Professional Plus 2016
All the files you can see in the screenshot are suffering this issue and range from 6Mb to 37Mb (so not large but maybe that's because they lost their pictures?)
The pictures do not show in the preview in Windows Explorer, the edit window, slide show..... the lost ones show nowhere in fact.

How were the images inserted into the presentation; were them embedded or linked?
When you insert an image in a PowerPoint slide you have the option to embed it or linking to it. An image that is embedded is saved within the PowerPoint file and will be always be available when the presentation is viewed, regardless of where it is viewed or by whom.
If you link to the image when inserting it, then the image is not saved within the file. PowerPoint only inserts a link to the image which basically says "display the image located here," and the image needs to be available (from the exact same location) every time the presentation is viewed. If the linked image is ever moved, renamed or deleted, PowerPoint won't be able to find it and will display a broken image placeholder in your presentation. This isn't much of an issue if the image is on a network drive and everyone that uses the presentation has access to it, but this won't work well for files shared with people that don't have access to the linked image, or when the file is previewed online through a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.
The support team contacted me but I never got a fix for this issue.

This seems a pain as those images were saved with the .ppt file. Pretty sure they were all pasted in. I suppose I may have inserted some and not others. Unlikely. Even if they were, say inerted using the insert from gallary icon, they shoul not have become detached because they are still where they always were (i.e. in the same folder as the.ppt). Seems to me that maybe DropBox messes with that local link.
What is the solution ?
Also, do DropBox monitor this community forum? It seems unfair to ask volunteers to help with the issue.

Dropbox doesn't (and can't) alter your files.
If a file does have linked images within it, then those linked images wouldn't be available when opening the file on the Dropbox website and would display as broken images. But if you're opening the file locally and the images are still missing, then it's a local issue preventing PowerPoint from displaying those images, whether it be because they've been moved or you no longer have access, etc. PowerPoint simply can't find or open them. That's unrelated to Dropbox.
My files in my local "Documents" windows folder appear to be knabbed by Drop box and hence
(a) sometimes lose their attachemnets like thosPPT losing its images (you saw the screensot which shows all this?)
(b) sometimes will not allow me to save a file. For example, I open a document (word, powwrpoint, etc. and make two changes for a client presentation. The dropbox link will not allow me to save it so I have to keep it opne till the presentation which could be a day or so in the future. It says I do not have the authority to save it. This means I have to geo to find anoteh folder to save it it in temporarily.
(c) I have never got to the bottom of why Filezilla does not show teh right directories and save some files (backwards and forwards) from my machine.
So I am pretty sure there are storage suppliers who have sloved these issues and Dropbox does not care to do so.

Do you have the Backup feature enabled? The backup feature MOVES your key folders (such as Documents) into your Dropbox folder so they can sync to your account. If this is the case, disable the backup and tell it to Keep content in folders on this PC/Mac.
