I read everything about the pics that I uploaded to the Dropbox cloud from my PC and be able to see them using the Dropbox app I downloaded to my Android, but can't get anywhere. Does this sentence make sense?
Hey @TOFU, thanks for clarifying!
Do you have access to your PC, to check if the app is updated, and syncing properly? Also, how did you add the files? Did you copy them in your Dropbox folder when doing so?
Feel free to let me know the app's syncing status, and version by hovering over the little Dropbox icon, on your task bar and we'll take it from there.
Hi @Marshal mellow, let's jump right into this!
I'd need some additional info, to fully grasp the situation, and guide you as to how you can resolve it.
How do you upload the content from your PC? Do you use the desktop app, or our website?
When you say that you can't get anywhere, do you mean that you have trouble viewing the content when you open your Dropbox app on your phone, or you have trouble uploading the content in the first place?
Feel free to provide me with as much info as possible and we'll take it from there!
Hi Megan!
Thank you sooo much for trying to help me. Unbelievably, I stumbled and bumbled my way to make it all work! I noticed that I got messages to Tofu and also to Marshal Mellow. I had two accounts going which explained the whole thing. One thing I don't understand though, is all those gazillion pics inside my phone and it may explode or are they in the cloud and I don't have to be afraid to carry it in my pocket?
Oops! I was wrong. I only got about a quarter of them if that. Ok, I don't see a little Dropbox icon on my taskbar, sorry. I'm letting you down.
Hi @Marshal mellow, don't worry about it, we'll get to this together.
You mentioned that you only have about a quarter of them. Are you checking the mobile app, or the desktop app? If you have any screenshots of what you see on your end, that'd be amazing to attach here.
As for the little icon on your task bar, can you do a quick re-install of the desktop app, and let me know how it goes?
Take your time, and respond back to me on your next lousy coffee session @Marshal mellow!
I'm really sorry it took so long to get back to you, kind of a crazy day. I'm trying to follow your advice but I get stuck in the first paragraph.
Yes, I have access to my pc. That's as far as I can get. Wish you'd fly over and fix it in about 5 minutes. I'd take you out for sushi. (I'd have to sell my car to do it).
Hi @Marshal mellow, if I could fly over there and fix it, I'd be happy to, with or without sushi.
However, I can only guide you from here. You mentioned, that you only see some of the files, not all of them: can you clarify where it is that you're looking?
Are you looking on the web, mobile app or desktop app?
As for the re-install of the app, all you'd need to do is click here: https://www.dropbox.com/downloading, download and install our desktop app. Once that's done, let me know the app's syncing status.
Hi Megan,
Before we go much further I saw something while I was fooling around with it on my PC. (I'm using the app). I'm out of space on Dropbox. Could that be what's causing all my troubles?
Now I'm really in trouble. Now on my phone Dropbox wants me to pay 1600 yen a month which I certainly can't do. I'm stuck at that screen. I don't understand this cloud thing at all. I thought that all of my photos were out there floating in space and all I had to do was connect with the cloud and I could see them. They're not on my hard disc taking up space, right?
Sorry about all this.
Hey @Marshal mellow, when you download our app locally to the device, it takes up some of your hard drive.
If your Dropbox quota is reached, and you don't have enough space, then any changes, and additions you make in the Dropbox folder on your device, won't sync online, and therefore to any other devices such as your mobile app.
Therefore, if you add content in your Dropbox folder on your computer, but can't see them on your mobile, this could be the case.
Provided this is what's happening, you'd either need to upgrade, or make some space in the account, in order for the new files to be uploaded.
Awesome @Marshal mellow!
If you need anything else let me know, I'll be one post away! 😎
Hi @Marshal mellow, this would mean that you were logged into another Dropbox account, since you can't have two usernames under the same email on the Community.
This means you have another email address which has a Dropbox account on it. Try logging into the site with your current email to see the files, and then logout and try to login with another email address you use. If need be, you can reset the password for that account.
oops. Things aren't going so well. I did see that on my pc I'm not using the app, I'm on the net. I tried logging off on my phone and logging back in and I get an "Unable to log in" pop-up. There is another address there that I apparently used and when I click login I just get a circle going round and round and an email saying someone is trying to get in using my address. I will get an email in 48 hours. This is exhausting. I can't imagine how you feel.
Glad to hear everything worked out, @Marshal mellow! If you need something else, don’t hesitate to ping us.
