Since the latest update on dropbox I'm struggling to open my artwork on photoshop. It takes forever to open - sometimes up to 5 minutes or more. Why is this happening?
Hi @NATACIAP, and thanks for posting this on the forum.
Can you please clarify which update you’re referring to, so that I can have a clearer image of what may be happening?
Also, is your Dropbox app currently in the process of syncing files, or is it showing as up to date?
Keep me posted for more updates!
Hi Nancy,
For the last week, saving artwork from photoshop into dropbox takes so much longer than usual. Also when opening files in photoshop directly from dropbox, this process is also very time consuming and what would normally open within a few seconds now can take up to 5 or 6 minutes to open. Adobe recommended I move the files I want to work on, onto my Mac and open them from there which definitely works better now. Just find it very strange that since last weekend (Saturday) when I coincidently also had to update my dropbox apps on both my iPad and phone, this issue started to happen. I first thought there was an issue with my internet and fibre speed - had that double checked and definitely no issues there. The issue is all of a sudden saving to dropbox and opening or moving file out of dropbox is very slow. Not sure if there were some changes made and that is causing the issue now? Hope this is more clear. When dropbox is synching, it also slows my computer down more than usual at the moment. My files are quite big but I've never experienced this issue before. I've been pausing the downloads while I'm working to speed up my process.
Thanks for the details!
Can you share with me the app version that the Dropbox app is running on both your iOS devices?
Did you also have any kind of update on your computer, before this issue occurred?
Yes, I did have a photoshop upgrade which but I deleted that photoshop app and reloaded the older version and it still continued to do that.
Where do I find the dropbox version details for my Mac? My cell and iPad have the latest Version 318,2, which I imagine my computer does too as they are all linked?
Hi @NATACIAP, the version on the iPad and mobile is usually a bit different.
You can see the version of your desktop app, if you locate your Dropbox icon on the menu bar, next to your WiFi and hover your mouse there.
Also, out of curiosity: if you close your Dropbox app locally on the device, and try to open a file in Photoshop, does the behavior remain the same, or do the files open faster?
Dropbox encrypts and decrypts files when it moves them. We had the same problem here at work. Some machines experienced this lag, others didn't.Solved the issue by enabling AES-NI on the motherboard of effected machines on INTEL platform. AES-NI is built-in to your INTEL processor and in our case was switched OFF as default. AES-NI is an instruction set in the CPU. super fast encryption and decryption enabled.
Hope this helps you too.
