When clicking e.g. "Open with Microsoft Online Excel" on a file from the Dropbox website, a loading page shows and then it just ends up becoming a blank page. It used to work, but it seems there's a security policy in the headers on the page preventing communication with Microsoft login services, as the JavaScript console shows the following error:
Refused to send form data to 'https://login.live.com/' because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "form-action 'self' https://docs.google.com/document/fsip/ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/fsip/ https://docs.google.com/presentation/fsip/ https://docs.sandbox.google.com/document/fsip/ https://docs.sandbox.google.com/spreadsheets/fsip/ https://docs.sandbox.google.com/presentation/fsip/ https://excel.purple.officeapps.live-int.com https://onenote.purple.officeapps.live-int.com https://powerpoint.purple.officeapps.live-int.com https://visio.purple.officeapps.live-int.com https://word-view.purple.officeapps.live-int.com https://word-edit.purple.officeapps.live-int.com https://officeapps-df.live.com https://excel.officeapps-df.live.com https://onenote.officeapps-df.live.com https://powerpoint.officeapps-df.live.com https://word-view.officeapps-df.live.com https://word-edit.officeapps-df.live.com https://officeapps.live.com https://excel.officeapps.live.com https://onenote.officeapps.live.com https://powerpoint.officeapps.live.com https://word-view.officeapps.live.com https://word-edit.officeapps.live.com https://paper.dropbox.com/cloud-docs/edit https://www.dropbox.com/ https://dl-web.dropbox.com/ https://photos.dropbox.com/ https://paper.dropbox.com/ https://showcase.dropbox.com/ https://www.hellofax.com/ https://app.hellofax.com/ https://www.hellosign.com/ https://app.hellosign.com/ https://help.dropbox.com/ https://navi.dropbox.jp/ https://selfguidedlearning.dropboxbusiness.com/ https://instructorledlearning.dropboxbusiness.com/ https://sales.dropboxbusiness.com/ https://accounts.google.com/ https://api.login.yahoo.com/ https://login.yahoo.com/ https://pal-test.adyen.com https://2e83413d8036243b-Dropbox-pal-live.adyenpayments.com/".
Is there some configuration we need to do on our end to get this working again?
Hi @MarcusC and welcome to the Community!
Could you confirm the file types and sizes that you are getting this error with?
Equally, do you face the same issue when trying the same action from a different browser or incognito window?
Note, if you have a Dropbox Business account, editing Microsoft Office Online files requires an Office 365 subscription (Business, Business Essentials, Business Premium, ProPlus, E1, E3, E4, or E5), and so when opening such a file you’ll be asked to authenticate and sign into your Office 365 account.
However, personal plans (Basic, Plus, and Professional) do not require this.
You can read more about this integration and the file types/sizes supported, here.
If the issue persists, send me a screenshot of what you are seeing (without any personal information) and we will look into it further!
Awaiting your updates - thanks!
The same thing is happening to me! I have Dropbox for Business with a full Office 365 licence. I can intermittently edit excel online but usually have to clear my cookies/cache when I get the blank screen. Clearning my cache/cookies isn't working for me anymore - can you help?
Hi @rianna_j; thanks for joining our Community!
I'm sorry to hear you're also having this issue and I'll be glad to help.
Can you let me know what device you're on and if the issue perists on other browsers or an incognito window (with no plugins or extentions running)?
Could you also check your account's 'Default apps' tab and let me know what you find there?
Thanks!
Exactly the same problem here. Did you manage to resolve this issue yet?
Hi @C_L; thanks for joining our discussion and sorry to hear you're also having issues with this.
Can you please let me know on which browser you're noticing this and if it persists after clearing your browser's cache, on an incognito window or even a completely different browser?
While we're at it, can you also take a look at your account's default apps and let me know what options you see there for the Microsoft's file types (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)?
Thanks a bunch!
It appears to be broken in the latest Google Chrome version (Version 80.0.3987.149 (Official Build) (64-bit)).
Fully cleared cache, tried in incognito mode - the lot - it just stopped working one day with nothing different on my side.
I have just managed to get it working using Firefox now, but have been happily working in Chrome for a long time until the problem loading started the other day.
Similar issue as others. I am a Dropbox Business user with full Office 365 access. I used to be able to open Word, Excel, PP into the 365 online version from DB. Now, e.g., when I attempt to open Word for the Web, it directs me to log into O365, which I do. Then my browser starts going back and forth between DB and office.live.com without ever loading. I am using Safari as a browser, and accessing from the same computer as previously (MacBook Air). Since I saw you ask others about their Default editing apps, I took a pic of mine below. If I change it to open the Microsoft app, I get the problem noted here. DB does preview fine.
Aric M - I think your issue will be solved by clearing your cache and cookies in the browser. I've seen a similar login loop with users in my team and that solved it.
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, clearing the cache and cookies did not solve the issue.
Hi @nzz8; thanks for joining our discussion here and welcome to our Community!
I'm sorry to heat that clearing your browser's cache didn't improve matters for you. Could you try an incognito window or another browser and let me know the results?
If you still bump into an issue, please send me a screenshot so I can have a visual too.
Hi @Walter ,
After switching browser, it now works for me. But it's so frustrating not knowing what went wrong in chrome. So now I open mozilla everytime i want to do online editing - the fastest solution to my issue.
Same issue here, totally broken in Chrome 81.0.4044.138 on Win10. Works fine in Firefox.
hi, I have a similar problem.
Could you assist me with this issue? When storing email messages (outlook item: msg format) in dropbox and then re-opening it, content in email becomes unreadable (full of non latin characters). I already verified the parameters in outlook and these are fine. Sometimes messages are readable but only half of it.
It randomly happens but very annoying because we “lose” the content of the email as the data becomes unreadable.
Could anyone share with me a solution?I am using Dropbox Business and Microsoft Office 2016 64 bits version.
Thanks in advance!
Jochem

Hi @jochem; thanks for joining our Community!
The error seems to be coming from your computer's OS and/or your Office app; could you send me a screenshot to verify if that's the case?
While at it, have you installed (and tried) the Dropbox for Outlook plugin?
