New iOS version today says I can now get rid of the Preview pane but HOW? Waited so long for this and now I can't work out how to do it!!
Hi Ian,
The feature is still rolling out. You'll see it soon as a X button in the top left of the preview pane.
I have same problem!
iPad 6th generation
iOS V13.1.3
Dropbox 162.2.6
The "X" to close the preview pane has disappeared.
How do I get it back?
Thanks
Thanks for your reports @Edward W.10 & @Random4423.
Note that I moved your posts under this thread as it echoes the issue described here.
@GeoC1010 : As aforementioned, our team is aware and currently working on this. We'll update this thread once we have more information to share.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
I see. I’m not the only person reporting this. Glad to hear you guys are escalating this to the dev team.
EDIT: This is my icon browse view. So much wasted space...
Nothing has changed after this mornings update. This is ridiculous. I am being asked to explore alternatives for my organization.
This issue makes the app nearly unusable, so I hope DropBox will correct this in hours/days, not weeks/months.
Thank you.
Yeah, it is ridiculous!!! I plan to explore other options and move on when my plan ends.
I can’t understand why it cannot be fixed for so long.
I have an iPad Pro. When I would go to the Files menu in the past, I used to be able to maximize it. It would completely open up and fill the screen. But now it stays off to the left side in a minimal form and won't expand at all. I can't read my files or folder names, and it's driving me nuts. I try to tap in the open space near the top, but it's completely unresponsive. See attached picture. Was this a programming change in the app? If so, then WHY??? Doesn't makes any sense to change that feature. If not, then what the heck is happening? I really need this fixed ASAP, please.
File Menu Won’t Maximize
Hey there @Matt_Macgyver, thanks for reaching out to us about this.
Initially, please note that I removed some personal info included in your screenshot for privacy purposes as per Community Guidelines.
From what I understand, you're unable to expand the right side of your preview as you used to previously.
I've moved your post here where other users also report the same feedback.
As @Walter and @Fiona have mentioned, our team is aware and they are looking into this.
Let us know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
I am using iPad pro and having same [profanity removed as per Community Guidelines] problem. It is really disappointing to see that you people couldn't solve it even after month. What a [profanity removed]? You need more than a month just for a close button? If you can't give that close button back at least remove that [profanity removed] preview pane altogether as it is no much use. I am using a paid subscription and already decided not to renew is once the subscription period is over. Many other customers will do the same if you behave this much lazy to solve problems.
I agree, hugely frustrating
Yeah, I also am a paying subscriber. Dropbox should abate the fee for the service until they fix the issue. Are we, the customers, supposed to suffer without recompense because Dropbox has become a faulty product?
Yeah, I have been a subscriber for years, and will be terminating and moving to a service that:
1) Doesn't force a brain-dead comments page on me,
2) Allows me to list what files I have saved, [This is impossible in the current iPad app]
3) Responds usefully to customers, instead of stonewalling behind a bunch of flannel, which is what is happening in this thread.
I have used DropBox for years, but the latest changes have made it unusable for managing and actually using a large collection of files on an iPad, which kinda seems like a key use case.
Best Wishes,Jonathan
I'm with you. I've never seen anything like this! Which service might you consider switching to?
Hi folks, I apologize for not posting an update to this thread. The fix will be rolling out in next week's app update. Please download the update when it's available mid next week and the X will be back.
Thank you for the helpful feedback.
How do I see the responses from @Walter and @Fiona? I can't find them.
Hi @Matt_Macgyver. Our comments are in previous pages of this thread. You can navigate to the first page of this thread and review it from the beginning by clicking the number 1, at the bottom or the top of the each Community discussion. Get back to us with any feedback or questions. Thanks!
Still no fix to this issue its been well over a month since this has happened. For a month ive not been able to see full files names making the ipad app virtually unsuable i am so frustrated for the sole reason of loosing productivity at work and when out in the field. This is totally unacceptable for the high price your customers pay for this software a simple bug like this should have been fixed immediately. So i guess that we can expect issues to arise every time software is updated. For the whole month that this has caused such a loss in productivity for so many users as included in this forum ALL of your customers that have complained about this issue should most definitly get a credit back for the terrible service they have recieved and for loss of productivity due to a simple software fix.
Hi @MatthewC328 - I appreciate your feedback on this.
As you can see in this thread, we've heard our users' reports and started working on it. As per @DavidZ's latest update (you can see it on the top of this page), the fix will be rolling give or take around Wednesday.
Hey peeps!
Time to update to the latest Dropbox mobile version 166.2 !
Let us know how it goes.
Doing well. Thank you and thanks to your team.
